Chapter 80: Those Who Can Never Be Forgiven (31)

    Why… Why couldn’t I defeat Kim Su-hyun?

Bloodied and battered, Baek Min-jun thought and thought again.

He had been a little worried about the thought of Kim Su-hyun getting the saint pregnant, but in reality, Su-hyun’s strength had been far weaker than expected.

It was to the point where Baek Min-jun wondered if he had even slept with the heroines a few times.

The power Kim Su-hyun had shown so far was a fake, an exaggeration, inflated beyond reality.

From what Diana had said, even the Mesmerizing Eye was pathetic.

And the Warrior’s power, which supposedly grew stronger the more he was with heroines, was nothing compared to what Baek Min-jun had built in the past.

    This should have been winnable.

Even without the Mesmerizing Eye, even without the Warrior’s power, he had devoured magic stones and borrowed demonic energy from Rina.

That should have been more than enough—Baek Min-jun had been certain of that.

And yet… Why did it come to this?

The more he fought, the stronger Kim Su-hyun became.

Now backed into a corner, Baek Min-jun trembled in fear, making his final, desperate stand.

    “Shit… Shit…!”

    Why?

    Why can’t I win?

What am I lacking? I’m the protagonist!

Why can Kim Su-hyun keep fighting?

    Why won’t he give up?!

At first, Baek Min-jun had completely dominated the battle.

Kim Su-hyun had struggled just to deflect magic bullets.

Yet, even though he understood the power gap, he never ran away.

Instead, he kept coming forward, willing to sacrifice everything.

His body was battered and torn, but he refused to stop.

    Baek Min-jun was different.

Without the Mesmerizing Eye, he was nothing.

When he lost the Warrior’s power, he gave up and surrendered to demonic energy.

Finally, he understood the contempt he had once seen in the heroines’ eyes—

It wasn’t them looking down on him.

    It was his own self-loathing.

That disgust wasn’t directed at others—it was for himself, for a man who couldn’t accomplish anything on his own.

What if I hadn’t relied on cheap tricks?

What if I had treated the heroines like real people?

Would I have ended up like him?

For a moment, a feeling close to regret flickered inside him.

But then, Baek Min-jun let out a twisted laugh.

    “Heh… Shit.

What kind of idiot am I? Thinking like this in a game world?”

    “I wasn’t wrong.

    I didn’t do anything wrong.

    They were just tools!”

    “You keep babbling nonsense.”

“What the hell are you even trying to say?”

Kim Su-hyun leveled his sword at him.

Even knowing they were both from Earth, Su-hyun felt no hesitation.

He would never forgive a man who saw women as mere tools.

Baek Min-jun, however, couldn’t understand Kim Su-hyun’s anger.

    This was a game world.

He was the protagonist—it was his right to do whatever he wanted.

So why was Kim Su-hyun getting so worked up over something as trivial as defiling heroines?

    He couldn’t accept it.

This man was just as filthy as he was.

“You got the saint pregnant, didn’t you?

And from what I hear, the mage and knight aren’t virgins either.

So how the hell are you any different from me?!”

    Inferiority.

    Denial.

That ugly truth inside him began to burn hotter and hotter.

“It’s because I lost the Mesmerizing Eye and the Warrior’s power.

That bastard stole the power that should have been mine.

If I take it back, everything will go back to normal.

Rotten to his very core, Baek Min-jun forced his trembling body to stand again.

    “Apologize.”

    “…What?”

    “Apologize to Sera.

    Apologize to Laura and Natalia.”

At that moment, his body froze.

    Apologize?

    For what?

I only did what the game intended.

I only used the heroines the way they were meant to be used.

    They were just tools.

Why the hell should I apologize?

His thoughts began to boil over in rage.

Demonic energy surged violently inside him.

And before he even realized it—

He had lunged at Kim Su-hyun.

“Why the hell should I apologize to some damn tools?!

When you kill enemies in a game, do you apologize to them?!

This is just a goddamn game!

Those washed-up whores never had human rights to begin with—!”

Before he could even finish his sentence, Kim Su-hyun stepped forward.

And with a single punch, he sent Baek Min-jun flying.

    “Gahhh! It hurts! IT HURTS!!”

His body crashed into a nearby wall, leaving a deep crater.

He was lucky Kim Su-hyun didn’t use his sword.

But even as he tried to catch his breath,

A chill ran down his spine as he felt Kim Su-hyun’s glare piercing through the dust.

“I knew it would be like this.”

When Baek Min-jun snapped back to reality, Kim Su-hyun was already standing over him,

His foot pressed against Baek Min-jun’s chest.

The overwhelming pressure made his bones creak.

A howl of pain echoed through the battlefield—

Yet, no one came to save him.

    No—maybe that was wrong.

    Because as he lay dying,

He felt an enormous surge of demonic energy erupt from his own body.

His soul itself was being devoured.

His flesh turned black, rotting as corruption spread rapidly.

    “Hrk… AAAAAAGH!!!

    That f*cking whore DIANA!!!”

His vision turned red, his mind filled with destruction.

A violent hunger for chaos consumed him.

    Only now did he realize—

What Diana had put inside that sandwich.

This wasn’t part of the game’s story.

No matter how hard he struggled,

No matter how much he screamed,

Diana had always seen him as a disposable tool.

His arrogance vanished in an instant.

By the time he understood his mistake—

    It was already too late.

Baek Min-jun had lost all control.

His body ripped apart, unleashing a monstrous explosion of demonic energy.

    And with one final thought,

His mind completely succumbed to madness.

    The monster had finally awakened.
