Chapter 92: BGG and Igloo, Part 2

“What about BGG? And the symbol, a polar bear?”

Back in the club room, Do Jin-ho, having received the glorified “paid vacation” of Vtuber monitoring from Hayoon, confidently suggested the new company name.

“I don’t know how you girls feel about this, but there’s something called yuri appeal overseas, right?”

    “Yuri?”

    “Appeal?”

Hong Seo-hyun and Choi Arin took turns asking, Hayoon nodding as if she understood. Yuri appeal. Wasn’t that just pushing the whole girls-love aspect?

“It’s like… Vtubers are seen as heroines by their viewers. They have to be purely devoted to the viewers. But, with girls, it’s different.”

    “Right? They are subtly possessive.”

    “I see…”

Hong Seo-hyun nodded in agreement, while Choi Arin accepted it as information. Do Jin-ho, unfazed by their different reactions, continued.

“Girls are different. If Vtubers are girls, it’s seen as vaguely okay. Some viewers like it.”

    “…?”

Even Hong Seo-hyun didn’t quite understand that.

“Campy streams in Korea have “We Got Married” elements, right? But that’s a no-go for Vtubers. They have to be devoted only to the viewers. So instead, they use yuri appeal – girls’ love to give those fans something.”

    “Oh.”

It was Choi Arin’s turn to gasp. Knowing what yuri was, she was aghast.

    But Do Jin-ho wasn’t finished.

“Polar bears are a symbol of yuri. If we use BGG and a polar bear silhouette logo…”

“The subtle implication is, ‘Our girls aren’t interested in men,’ and even the purist Vtuber fans will be okay with it?”

    “Uh, yeah… something like that.”

Hayoon jumped in. While she found Do Jin-ho’s idea a bit much, it made sense. Only those familiar with the yuri genre would recognize the polar bear’s symbolism.

“In that case, we can’t allow any male scandals. The symbol is ‘our girls are not into men’!”

She glanced at Hong Seo-hyun as if to ask, “Can you handle that?” She looked like a CEO concerned about her employees’ dedication.

And Hong Seo-hyun replied dryly, “How can I have scandals if I’m locked up here, just streaming? What do you expect from me?” It was understandable. You were setting her up in an apartment to stream and you suspected her.

“I think you’ll do fine. You’re different from those streamers who are only in it for the money, right?”

“That’s what I’m saying. You still don’t know me?”

Hong Seo-hyun wasn’t a Vtuber for the money. She wanted to sing and get paid for it. This opportunity wouldn’t come again and she wouldn’t waste it.

“Good, so we’re agreed. The team name is BGG, the logo is a polar bear silhouette.”

With Hayoon’s decision, Do Jin-ho chuckled. It seemed like a longtime wish of his had been fulfilled.

    “So, what about potential recruits?”

“I’ve been scouring single-digit viewer channels. The standard contract for Vtuber agencies is two years, so let’s not rush it.”

This was correct. If a Vtuber agency let members “graduate” or “reincarnate” too easily, it damaged the agency’s image. They needed to carefully pick people who wouldn’t fail, who had strong streaming potential. They had to be successful to want to re-sign the contract.

“Great, I trust you to find the best candidates.”

    “I’ll do my best.”

Having Do Jin-ho’s assurance, she ended the meeting.

The Game Release Club had officially become BGG Company, a Vtuber agency and RP visual novel creator.

    Time passed quickly.

Do Jin-ho had graduated. While he couldn’t visit the club room, he enjoyed his new life of monitoring Vtubers. He also got to moderate Scarlet’s chats.

It seemed Do Jin-ho had won the internet game.

    “I’m starting the stream.”

    “Good luck, senior.”

    “You’re getting informal.”

“What about it? We’re just a year apart. And your mom said it was okay.”

    “Cheeky…”

Hong Seo-hyun was the first to move into BGG Company’s headquarters.

She practically lived there during breaks and often streamed until late, sleeping there and going to school directly after.

Hong Seo-hyun’s parents were surprisingly open-minded.

Since it was a girls-only space, with soundproofing, desks, and electronics, they didn’t think anything “strange” could happen.

Of course, not all parents were like that.

Choi Arin’s parents didn’t understand the idea of minors renting an apartment to use as an office.

But that was until last month. In 2021, with COVID still rampant, Choi Arin’s father, tired of her working at cafes, relented: since it was a girls-only space, what could be the harm?

While it was referred to as “moving in”, she didn’t bring much. Hayoon had already bought a tablet, chair, desk, and other tools for her for tax purposes.

Choi Arin only needed to bring herself.

“Look, it’s just a place to work. My wife is overreacting.”

    “But there’s a bed…”

“She can take naps while working. Do you know how much Arin made this month?”

Choi Arin’s parents argued with each other.

In most households, the father has the strongest voice.

    And Choi Arin’s father…

    “Hello, CEO-nim.”

    “Hello, Father.”

…liked Hayoon a lot. Hayoon had significantly increased Choi Arin’s pay. She had to pay her staff more. She couldn’t only focus on saving money. As a parent, he was impressed by the entrepreneurial girl who managed a staff at 18.

“Please continue to look after our Arin.”

“Of course. I learn a lot from Unnie, too.”

Choi Arin’s father shook Hayoon’s hand.

“There’s nothing in the fridge. You need to eat properly. Can I send over some side dishes?”

    “Of course, Mother.”

“Hey! That’s not how you talk to the CEO!”

Choi Arin’s father scolded his wife and excused himself, saying he’d see them again. That left only Hong Seo-hyun, Hayoon, and Choi Arin. And Hayoon.

“Want to see your workspace, Unnie? I bought a really expensive chair.”

    “Oh, you spend too much.”

    “It’s a tax deduction.”

Hayoon led Choi Arin to the art studio, which made her gasp. A large 27-inch monitor, a portable monitor, and a Wacom tablet attached to the desk in a “L” shape. A workspace optimized for illustration and animation.

    “Amazing…”

Choi Arin was awestruck. She touched everything, adjusting the setup to her liking. Choi Arin’s posture lifted her skirt slightly, revealing a glimpse of her thighs, capturing Hayoon’s attention.

    She’s tempting me.

    Hayoon’s predatory instincts were rising.
