Chapter 31 Part 6: Commission – Violence
by Afuhfuihgs“Y-You crazy btch…! What the fck are you doing all of a sudden?!”
Amused by their extreme reaction to witnessing their friend’s face being intimately acquainted with hot udon broth, a smile crept onto my face.
The bodies of awakened individuals are generally stronger than those of ordinary people, so seeing them looking relatively unharmed, I decided to answer their question.
“I just fed him because he said the udon was delicious, you know?”
“Is that what you call feeding someone, you crazy b*tch! We treated you kindly, and then…!”
“Hmm. Recovering faster than I thought.”
B-grade awakened can deflect bullets.
Frankly, that common knowledge was one of the things I just couldn’t understand.
Is it really possible to deflect the immense kinetic energy of a bullet?
I had that question in mind.
It was even harder to accept because my bullets seemed to be able to pierce them.
But seeing this scene, I started to think that maybe they really could deflect bullets.
I just slammed his head into freshly made, piping hot udon soup, and instead of getting burned, he’s glaring at me with annoyance.
They seemed to be tougher than I thought.
“…Hey, transfer student. Are you sane? Haven’t you heard who we are yet?”
“I know roughly. Aren’t you the children of high-ranking people?”
“You knew and you still did this? Then, you must know that your life will be very difficult from now on?”
They glared at me with a desperately angry expression, spewing threats.
Saying that they would take me to court no matter what, that they would contact the association and have me demoted to F-grade no matter what.
You’re finished now. We’ll bury you in society.
It was a malicious statement filled with that meaning.
“Haa…”
In that world, and in this world.
Even though a strange substance called mana has interfered with the laws of physics, there are some unchanging common sense things.
Like, you shouldn’t mess with high-ranking people, or something like that.
It has always been a high-risk act to stand up to people in power, and the people in power know that fact better than anyone.
That’s why power holders often easily forget one other piece of common sense.
“You’re in big trouble now. Using our power, we’ll target not only your family but even your relatives…”
“Friends.”
“Kyaaak…?!”
“You guys are so noisy. What do I have to do to shut your mouths? Should I tear your jaws apart to make you quiet?”
I grabbed the mouth of one of the noisy guys and started to pry it open.
Then, he closed his jaw and struggled to get out of my grasp, but he seemed greatly embarrassed to realize that it was no use.
He struggles to escape, but he can’t.
If this continues, his mouth will be torn apart. He might die.
Whether that thought finally entered his empty head, or whether he couldn’t make a sound because his mouth was forcibly opened…
I really liked that he was finally starting to be quiet.
I was so annoyed by them chattering on and on next to me.
This is much better.
“I’ll give you some very good advice so that you can live on in the future.”
“Haa, haa…. Heueu, heueueu…. M-My, my jaw!”
“The law doesn’t solve everything.”
Where was I?
Ah, right. I was talking about the common sense that power holders forget?
It’s nothing special.
Power holders usually think, seeing the people who grovel before them.
I am strong. No one can defy me, they think.
But, that’s a really idiotic thought.
Of course, they are strong. They have wealth that no one can ignore, and they have power that others can’t even imagine.
But you know what…. If you have power and wealth, can you survive being shot?
Can you remove poison that has penetrated your body? Can you reattach a severed neck?
They are mistaken. They think that no one will touch them.
Of course, most people can’t even imagine trying to do anything to them.
Well, that’s obvious. Even if they kill them, they can clearly see what kind of punishment will be inflicted on the survivors.
That’s power. The power to protect oneself from normal people.
However, for a small number of people, power is a meaningless thing.
For people who are determined to kill you no matter what happens to them, power is not an obstacle.
“Friend, friend. Why don’t you think about it for a second?”
“H-Hic….”
“Which will be faster, me crushing your head, or your parents, who you keep shouting about, helping you?”
Power and everything else, it doesn’t solve the immediate danger.
No matter how high-ranking someone is, they die if they suffer a fatal wound, and even if the perpetrator is punished after death, it’s meaningless.
Because it will be a story after they have already died.
And, I can slit their throats right now.
Perhaps judging that, fear finally began to settle in their eyes.
“Haa, haa…. Haa, haa….”
“S-So what are you going to do?! This is the academy! There are teachers! Y-You’re dead now!”
“Ah, right. There were teachers, too?”
The law is too far away, and the fist is close.
I felt good that I helped them personally realize that truth.
It will be a memory they will never forget for the rest of their lives.
However, they didn’t seem to have realized that truth yet.
A teacher will come. They will help them.
They seemed to sincerely believe that.
“What’s going on! I heard there was a commotion in the cafeteria… What, is it you guys?”
Was it thanks to their wishes coming true?
Before long, people presumed to be teachers appeared.
Perhaps they only heard that it was an urgent situation, the teachers who came in a hurry looked at them sending out requests for salvation, and their faces instantly turned sour.
“Keep it moderate, keep it moderate. Even jokes can become violence if they go too far.”
“T-Teacher. H-Help….”
“Don’t make me hear about school violence or anything like that because you’re playing pranks too much again. Got it?”
Disappointment and powerlessness settled in their eyes.
Hope in the current situation. The academy teacher doesn’t help even in this situation.
They seemed confused by such an absurd situation, but…
The academy teacher didn’t care about them at all, and started to return to where he was, annoyed.
“Play moderately, play moderately. Tch, you startled me….”
These guys are the victims in the current situation, but originally, these guys were the perpetrators.
Judging by the way he was looking at Eun-ji and vaguely telling them to keep it moderate.
“You should have behaved well normally, friends. Because you guys do things like bullying, everyone thinks it’s something you did and doesn’t take it seriously.”
“F*ck…”
“And the friends who were watching from the beginning don’t seem to have any intention of helping you….”
For a commotion that happened in the cafeteria, it was surprisingly quiet.
Only one teacher came at best. Everyone was quickly eating their food as if nothing had happened, and they were busy avoiding the scene.
Even the teacher who came was going back the way he came, as if nothing had happened.
It was a peaceful scene, even though heads were being slammed into udon soup, and curses and threats were exchanged in a place where people gathered, the cafeteria.
“You b*stards…. Why, why aren’t you helping me…! H-How can you not help when someone is being threatened like this!”
“I’ll tell my parents, my parents, and get that teacher fired…! Fck! Fck!”
“Hey, what kind of language is that to your teacher? You guys made your teacher like that?”
“What?”
Even though an incident openly occurred, why isn’t anyone helping?
The answer to that was simple. It was because they had created such an environment.
If you get close to someone they have targeted, they don’t know what they will do.
They had instilled that kind of awareness, and because they saw it directly with their own eyes, the students of JinYang Academy learned through their bodies that it was good to watch when something happened.
Even if something dangerous happens, they have become accustomed to cutting off the possibility of getting caught up in it.
The same was true of the academy teachers.
Whether they were bribed or threatened.
The teachers also decided not to interfere too much with their deviations, and not to pay attention to their actions.
The backing they had was too great to fulfill the duties of a teacher.
The members who create the atmosphere of the school are mostly students and teachers.
It was these guys who instilled the perception that it was better to ignore than to intervene in any incidents that happened to those people.
Therefore, this is karma.
Karma for the sins they have committed.
“You guys brought it on yourselves, friends. You thought it would be troublesome if you were reported or something, right? So, thanks to the behind-the-scenes work you did, it’s a good thing, isn’t it? There’s no chance of being reported.”
“That can’t be, that can’t be…!”
“I’m in a really good mood today because it’s the day I made new friends. How about it, friends. Shall we skip class?”
“Help me! Help me! You b*stards! I’m asking you to help me!”
“Kyaaak! Ah, it hurts! It hurts!”
“D-Don’t hit me. Please… Aaaaaaack!”
Their voices echoed through the cafeteria.
Please help me. I’m scared. Those kinds of stories.
But, instead of helping them, the students were just turning their eyes away and plugging their ears. No one showed any signs of helping.
Because they taught them that it was better to do so.
Even if it’s uncomfortable right now, it’s beneficial to them to close their eyes and plug their ears. Because they know that fact better than anyone.
The atmosphere created by the violence against Eun-ji was being applied to the violence against them.
