    Chapter 19 Part 8: Request – Rescue

    “Okay, how is it?”

    Gulp.

Yoo Jin handed me the bullet, unable to hide her extremely nervous expression.

I told her to tell me anything as soon as I said there was something I needed to ask for, but it was a more timid reaction than I thought.

“Well. I’ll have to use it to know… It looks perfect on the outside.”

“That’s a relief! …But, how? There’s no gun here. You need a gun to use this…”

    “What, didn’t you see it?”

    “Yes?”

I was sure of it after seeing Yoo Jin’s reaction of asking back stupidly.

This woman really didn’t see it.

She definitely could have seen it popping out from the inside of my arm when I left that place with the grappling hook.

Perhaps because it was an urgent situation, or maybe because the situation wasn’t good, she couldn’t confirm it.

It was a hassle to explain it in a complicated way, so I decided to show it to her directly with my own eyes.

    “Ar, arms?!”

    Tadatang.

I smiled at her, who couldn’t even think of covering her ears even though the ear-splitting gunshot rang out several times.

    “I’m a returnee too.”

“A returnee who uses a gun, th, that…”

“Yeah, as you know, I’m the one from the Hresvelgr…”

    “That’s so cool!”

    “?”

I wasn’t expecting this kind of reaction?

    Why is she so happy?

I turned my head towards Haran with an expression that I didn’t know what was going on, and she sighed deeply.

“I told you that you’ll know when you meet her. Yoo Jin-ssi has a bit of… otaku-like tendencies.”

“Otaku! I just like cool things!”

    “Yes, yes. I’m sure.”

“…You know that I’m a wanted person, right?”

“Of course I know! The heinous criminal who blew the head of the next Guild leader of the Hresvelgr Guild, Yoo Han-soo, at once and ran away! Keueueueueu, I really wanted to meet you!”

Is she crazy? No, she was definitely crazy.

There’s no way someone who sees a criminal and has shining eyes is normal.

“Iyaa, I was so surprised! I didn’t think that the thing I left in the store would really be a clue!”

    “…What?”

“I thought you would have escaped if you had time to prepare something like that. What other strange things did you see?”

“A mystery novel! It was so fun!”

I was easily able to realize what the thing they were talking about meant.

They must be talking about the camera that I used instead of the recorder.

It wasn’t something she prepared before she was captured?

“That camera, it wasn’t something you prepared?”

“It wasn’t. I found an interesting mystery novel, and I was thinking about how I would leave evidence if I was a victim of a case, so I left it as a pastime. Who knew it would really be evidence?”

    This is driving me crazy.

I thought that she had felt the foreshadowing of being kidnapped and prepared it in advance, but it was just that this weirdo’s actions accidentally matched.

“A machine all over your body… It’s so amazing.”

“Is it? I’m more amazed that you can replicate the same object from your hands.”

“Eii, I’m using mana. The only thing that only I can do. On the other hand, isn’t this body something that everyone can use?”

“Not everyone. The price was beyond imagination.”

“I see. Then, maintenance and things like that…?”

“I did it alone. I can’t wait for an engineer who comes a month later when it suddenly breaks down.”

Well, there were no luxurious things like engineers to begin with.

No matter how sturdy and reliable the prosthesis is, it’s still a prosthesis in the end.

If I call an engineer to a place where I’m alone, the moment that guy thinks of selling it and steals a body part or cuts off a nerve, I’ll die as it is.

    What idiot would do that?

“Don’t even think about asking me. I don’t intend to entrust it to anyone.”

    “I, I see… That’s too bad.”

Leaving behind Yoo Jin, who was openly showing that she was disappointed, perhaps she was really thinking of asking me, I stroked my arm.

Just because it’s a replication ability, I was thinking of using it even if the performance was a little lower than the original bullet.

To be honest, it was so perfectly the same that I couldn’t tell the difference between the original and the replica.

“I really want to brag that I met Ella-ssi. Everyone will be envious. Can I post it on SNS…?”

    “Will it be okay?”

    “I guess not?”

Haran instantly dismissed the question of whether she could post it on SNS, but I felt something strange in that statement.

Everyone will be envious, what is that story?

“Ah, you might not know. Ella-ssi, you’re more famous than you think on the internet.”

“I know that I’m famous. Since I killed her openly, I would have become famous. I’m a wanted person too, right?”

“No, not in that sense…. I mean in a good sense.”

    “A good sense?”

I became even more unable to understand.

Even if it’s changed a lot from the past I knew, this is still Earth.

Unlike that messed up neighborhood where the police didn’t bother to move even if one person died on the street, the public power here should still be alive?

I became dumbfounded at Yoo Jin’s story and asked Haran.

“Is this place more messed up than I thought?”

    “…I can’t say that it’s not.”

“Ah, don’t misunderstand. It’s not that I worship crime or anything like that.”

    “Then why?”

“The atrocities that that human committed were so severe that the antipathy was that strong. To the point where there were people who prayed for when that human would die.”

    Atrocities were severe, huh……

I tried to recall the last actions of the guy whose face I don’t even remember anymore.

After hearing that I was an F-grade returnee, he checked my appearance and smacked his lips and came to find me?

He threatened me because things didn’t go well.

What I suffered was only that much, but was he more trashy to other guys?

“What made him famous was…. He unilaterally fired all the new recruits who were hired by the guild. The reason was that he didn’t like their appearance.”

    “What a crazy bastard?”

“That’s the usual reaction, right? But he didn’t bother to care about those criticisms. Saying that it’s just the words of the lower class barking.”

“It seems like there would be sanctions if it was that much….”

“It seems that he treated people politely unless he judged that they were strictly below him. The guild leader protected him too. Rather, that’s why he was criticized more.”

Because of that duplicitous attitude, he was firmly hated by people.

    I roughly understood.

He was a guy who had a lot of public enemies because he committed atrocities, so there was a reaction that he died well even though he died.

Because it’s the internet where extreme opinions are easy to come out, it would have been even easier for this reaction to come out.

“Maybe it would have been better to leave that guy alone.”

I thought that even if I hadn’t shot him there, a contract killing would have come in before long anyway.

I don’t regret blowing his head off because I couldn’t stand the momentary anger, but it’s a bit of a waste.

…What’s the point of regretting what’s already happened now?

I urged Haran, who was typing diligently.

“Haran, how is it? What’s the reaction?”

“Umm…. It seems that the domestic white noise sales are temporarily suspended. It’s said that there’s a problem in the production process.”

“Since Alaune ran away, there must have been a problem. What about articles?”

    “Ah, there’s one.”

    “What is it?”

“Samhwa Church, intrusion of an unknown monster. Nothing stolen.”

I laughed after hearing the headline of the article that Haran read.

    Nothing stolen?

Well, yeah. There wouldn’t be anything. Let alone a stolen person.

“It’s said that the intention of the monster is unknown because nothing was stolen. The investigation is having difficulties because no special traces were left behind…”

    “I guess so.”

I couldn’t lower the corners of my mouth because it seemed like I could see the scene of the guys bowing to the police so humbly that it was pathetic.

When they asked if there were any stolen items, the guys would have desperately said that nothing was stolen.

That’s because, in order to say that Alaune was stolen, they had to show the scene of the basement.

How would they show a secret place that anyone could see was suspicious? If they made a mistake, they would be caught that they were an organization that produced drugs.

If they don’t say that Alaune was taken, there’s nothing stolen, so they’re going to try to end the investigation roughly, but they’re probably on pins and needles.

“By the way, Alaune. I wanted to see her too. She’s supposed to be pretty….”

“It can’t be helped. It’s best to go back to the forest to bloom flowers. You could have just been outside. I said you could come out.”

“…Tch. I get told off even if I work hard.”

After infiltrating, I told Haran that it was okay to go back first.

But, it seems that she was ignoring my words and continued to attract their attention.

Until the window broke and everyone ran towards the story that someone had intruded.

I wondered why people didn’t come even though it was time, but Haran was working hard.

“It’s a good thing that they all ran over there together, what if you were suspected? It almost became dangerous.”

“Well, still…. You did well. But, don’t do that next time.”

    “Yes.”

I stroked Haran’s head with gratitude, and her silky hair flowed down my fingers.
