Chapter 46: Getting to know Each other.
by AfuhfuihgsAs the story progressed, Seoha-noona asked me if she could take a look around the house, albeit a bit late.
The house wasn’t big enough to have anything particularly worth seeing, but there was no reason not to show her, so
I nodded my head in agreement.
Then, like a child, she jumped up and down in her seat, and as if she had been waiting, she eagerly began our house tour.
“Is this the study?”
The first place she entered was, unsurprisingly, the small room.
It felt a bit odd to call it a small room since the house was quite cramped, and the size difference between the large
and small rooms wasn’t significant. The larger room was being used as both a bedroom and a workspace.
“It sounds a bit grand to call it a study; I use it somewhat like a storage room. I needed a place to keep books and
various items.”
“Oh, you must like books, Woosu-ssi.”
“I think I like them moderately. But if you ask me if I’m a devoted reader, I wouldn’t say so.”
I just read works by my favorite authors when they come out, and when they don’t, I tend to stare blankly at my
phone. I’ve completely given up on self-help books.
“Oh, this is a book by my favorite author! I heard a new one came out, but I haven’t had the chance to read it.”
While examining the bookshelf, the book Seoha-noona picked up was indeed by my favorite author.
This author is exceptional at depicting psychology, revealing the depths of human emotions, and I personally prefer
novels that focus more on relationships than on events, which is why I like this author.
I didn’t expect that Seoha-noona would also like this author. Is our taste surprisingly similar?
“If you don’t mind, would you like to take it?”
As someone with few relationships, I was delighted to find someone with similar tastes after a long time, so I asked
Seoha-noona, who was about to put the book back.
With her eyes wide open, Seoha-noona looked up at me.
“Really?”
“Yes, I haven’t read it much recently anyway because I’ve read it too many times.”
I had kept it in good condition, so its appearance was quite nice.
Of course, I assumed she might not like books that had been touched by someone else.
“Thank you! I’ll enjoy reading it and return it to you later.”
“Eh? You can just keep it…”
Fortunately, Seoha-noona didn’t seem to mind such things and readily accepted my offer, but she still phrased it as if
she was ‘borrowing’ it.
I was intending to gift it to her as a memento of her visit, but it ended up feeling like I was making her come back,
which flustered me, and I waved my hands dismissively.
“No, I don’t want that. I’ll borrow it. And I promise I’ll come back to return it.”
“Um… I’m okay with it if you are.”
However, Seoha-noona insisted with a whiny tone, and feeling it was awkward to say anything more, I could only
scratch my cheek and nod my head.
Accepting just one book shouldn’t be a big deal. It seems Seoha-noona is also the type to care about odd things.
Clunk.
After finishing our exploration of the small room, we headed to the next place, which was the bedroom.
Unlike other areas, I always kept the bedroom clean and tidy, so there was nothing to worry about when showing it to her.
“It’s smaller than I expected. It must be tough to work and sleep here.”
“Well, it is. The chair and bed are almost touching…”
This was the first time Seoha-noona had directly mentioned the space being small, but I didn’t find it uncomfortable.
It didn’t feel like she was disappointed about the small size; rather, it seemed her reaction stemmed from surprise at
having to work and sleep in such a space simultaneously.
“Are you thinking of moving?”
“I’ve been considering it. But since there’s not much time left on the lease, I think it would be better to wait until it’s finished.”
“When does the lease end?”
“Until June.”
At my words, Seoha-noona nodded, appearing to ponder something significant. She mumbled, “Then it might be
better to move…” It seemed that she also thought moving would be a good idea.
“Ah, can I sit here?”
“Of course.”
“Uheh.”
Then, when she pointed to the chair I sit in while streaming and asked if she could sit there, I gladly accepted. Seoha-
noona then sat down with a silly, innocent laugh that didn’t quite seem like her usual self.
In that state, she spun around in the chair.
Seeing her smile brightly and rotate the chair made me smile without realizing it. It reminded me of the times my
younger cousin would come to our house and do the same. It meant she was really excited.
“It’s somehow fascinating. I can’t believe I’m sitting in the workspace of my favorite streamer.”
“Since you’re this happy, I’m feeling embarrassed.”
“There’s no need to be embarrassed. Woosu-ssi is the best star to me.”
That’s exactly why such a direct comment makes her feel embarrassed, yet this noona expresses her true feelings like a bulldozer.
But if you were to ask if I minded, of course I didn’t. I was rather grateful, perhaps overly so. I just felt sorry that I
couldn’t live up to the expectations of my worth.
“By the way, how was your stream yesterday? You must have been quite nervous?”
“Of course. I was so nervous that I couldn’t even eat properly before starting the broadcast.”
I had intended to eat a bit of cereal, but I ended up not finishing even half of it, despite having poured it into the
milk. I even had to take digestive medicine because I couldn’t digest that little amount properly.
I think it might have been the most nervous moment of my life.
“Woosu-ssi.”
“Yes, noona.”
While I was lost in thought, recalling yesterday’s events, I suddenly heard her voice.
Turning my head, I saw Seoha-noona still sitting in the chair, looking up at me with eyes that seemed to blend yellow and brown.
It felt as if she could see right through my heart, and I found myself thinking that unintentionally.
“Can I ask you something? It might be a sensitive question…”
“What is it?”
I usually try to answer all questions, but seeing her serious expression made me decide to listen first.
In truth, I might have already guessed what she was going to ask at this point. That’s probably why I wasn’t too
surprised when the next question followed.
“Have you had any personal troubles in the past? I remember you mentioned that dealing with people is tough for you.”
“Aren’t there many people who find it hard to interact with others?”
“That’s true. But I think there’s a particular reason for you, Woosu-ssi.”
If I hadn’t realized that from her reaction, it would have been stranger. After all, if someone struggles with
interacting to the extent of giving up a prestigious university, it goes beyond just being introverted.
Seoha-noona’s eyes, urging me to answer, met mine for a moment before I averted my gaze downwards.
It wasn’t that I found it hard to face her. It was just that whenever I tried to recall that memory, this natural reaction
surfaced.
It was like struggling to confront a vivid scene that remained etched in my mind.
“Well, actually…”
Still, I tried my best to recall that memory and opened my mouth. I thought it would be only right to share the truth
with someone who was my first fan and cherishes me this much.
However, I couldn’t finish that sentence.
Suddenly, something warm enveloped my entire body.
“…I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have asked something unnecessary.”
I realized what it was when I heard Seoha-noona’s moist voice close to my ear.
When I realized that the body I was holding was Seoha-noona’s, I would usually have pulled away as if I had been burned.
But today, for some reason, I didn’t feel that way. It wasn’t just because of the warmth; it was also because I liked her
voice that was close by.
For some inexplicable reason, I wanted to do this. Perhaps it had been a long time since I had shared such warmth
with someone who wasn’t family.
“I didn’t mean that I wanted to hear your story while seeing you suffer, Woosu-ssi. I just wanted to say that if you
think of it as just something that has passed, then please tell me.”
Seoha-noona added, “They say that sharing pain halves it, right?” as she released the arms wrapped around my back
and took a step back.
“Moreover, now that I think about it, it feels unfair if it’s just me hearing it. I’m sure other viewers would want to
hear the story that’s in your heart, too.”
“Do you think they would want to hear it? It’s not exactly a brilliant story or a good one…”
I was skeptical about whether the viewers who come to my room seeking enjoyment really wanted that.
“Of course. If you ever find the courage to share, please do. Everyone will be genuinely grateful for you trusting them
and opening up about your feelings.”
“I hope that’s the case.”
People tend to be reluctant to reveal their weaknesses.
However, conversely, if there is someone with whom you can reveal your weaknesses and who can accept them, that
would be a wonderful thing.
I, too, secretly hoped for that day to come.
“Ah, but still, I hope you tell me first. It might be a bit selfish, but…”
“Why’s that?”
I knew that asking such a question was silly, yet I reflexively asked out of genuine curiosity.
Seoha-noona took a step closer to me with a knowing smile, suddenly turning her body and sticking out her tongue
as she replied.
“You’ll find out when that day comes. Until then, please get to know me better, Woosu-ssi.”
……
Her words felt like a confession, and I could only stare at her in shock.
Indeed, our relationship might be just a little more special than the typical fan-streamer relationship.
