    Chapter 12 :Reversal of Status(1)

    “…Huh?”

I blankly stared at the shattered window.

“Fortunately, no one was hurt. There wasn’t anyone passing by outside.”

Ye-jin, the only one among the three of us who maintained a calm state, said as she checked outside.

As she said, there was no one walking along the street outside.

Fortunately, it seemed like we only needed to compensate for the cost of the glass window.

‘If someone passing by had been hit…’

Ugh, I felt goosebumps all over my body.

I had killed people a week ago, but at that time, at least blood wasn’t splattered.

I wasn’t yet immune to corpses to the point where I could remain unfazed even after seeing a corpse pierced by an ice spear.

Rather, my fear of blood had somewhat intensified due to the attempted human trafficking incident.

If someone has experienced the feeling of blood constantly flowing out of their mouth in a state where they couldn’t move properly due to

being poisoned, they might develop PTSD from seeing blood.

It was only because I had toughened up my stomach with gore-filled bait posts thanks to my long history of online community activity that I

was able to endure without being so mentally shocked.

Or maybe my mentality had simply become stronger because my body had changed.

In any case, I decided to think once more before using magic from now on.

Aside from the blood splattering when an incident occurred, I wouldn’t be able to sleep comfortably if an innocent person were harmed.

“It’s fortunate that no one was hit by the magic, but there aren’t any people outside at all? Not even a few…”

The area near the hospital was a bustling area, and today was Saturday.

The streets, which should have been crowded with people who came out to play with friends or family, were eerily empty.

“Ah, that’s… Should I explain this too?”

“What’s there to explain? Just do this.”

The two, who seemed to have experienced a sense of despair after seeing me succeed in using a skill in one go, began rummaging through the

    bed after hearing my question.

When I asked what they were looking for, they said they were looking for the TV remote, so I took it out from under my pillow and threw it to

    them.

Ye-rim, who skillfully caught it, pressed a few buttons, and the screen lit up.

    – Ah, there, good, I love it♥

    – Sis, your moaning face is so cute..

The screen that was broadcast as soon as the TV was turned on was full of flesh colors.

I don’t know who was watching this and turned it off without changing the channel, but roughly looking at it, it seems to be an adult movie

about women doing a lot of things with each other…

“…What does that have to do with there being no people on the street?”

The two sisters changed the channel without saying anything.

We felt the heat rising on our faces and only looked at the tiles on the floor.

Glancing to the side, even Ye-jin, who had no change in expression, had a red face, as if she had no immunity to that kind of thing at all.

    ‘Of course, we’re all single.’

Since all three of us are born-solo and innocent, we probably don’t have many male friends, let alone boyfriends.

Of course, we wouldn’t have any experience in that area.

It was only natural that we had no immunity to this kind of thing.

I was about to pat them on the shoulders, telling them that they didn’t look up those kinds of movies themselves and that they didn’t need to

be embarrassed by a simple accident, when the quickly changing channel stopped and a public broadcasting company’s news came on

instead of a scene full of flesh color.

    – This is reporter KIM HYEONG-IN.

    – I’m here at Haeundae I’Park in Busan.

    – Arson and… in many high-rise buildings and apartments…

The sound of a noisy propeller as if they were in a helicopter and the sound of something breaking in the distance.

And even the half-collapsed high-rise buildings and the sky full of black smoke.

It wasn’t reality, but a scene closer to a scene from a disaster movie.

“…What, did a war break out? Why is it like that there? Did North Korea or China finally go crazy and declare war? No, since that’s Busan, is

it Japan in terms of location?”

When I asked, pointing to the half-destroyed buildings, an answer returned with a sigh.

“It’s not a war, it’s closer to a simple riot. Users who have been oppressed by ordinary people have been destroying buildings or holding

violent demonstrations and causing chaos all over the country. The weight of the crimes they commit varies from theft to murder and r*pe.

They’ve become superhumans who aren’t afraid even if a hundred ordinary people rush at them, and they can even use skills, so it would be

strange if what they’ve been suppressing didn’t explode. Of course, there are many moderate, moderate users like us who don’t want such

    direct revenge.”

“It’s obvious, but Oppa has probably experienced being discriminated against because he’s a user. In my case, I’ve experienced things like

getting splashed with water or having someone spit on my face while just walking down the street.”

“I don’t want to brag about this, but… I’ve been grabbed by the collar and slapped. So, I understand the feelings of those people… Of course,

    that doesn’t justify their actions.”

…That’s right. The oppression that users had been receiving and the enactment of laws that were only favorable to ordinary citizens were

gradually pushing the users’ patience to the limit. So much so that ordinary people have long been the object of hatred among some extreme

    user communities.

Even for me, when my status window was normalized, the first people who came to mind were the people who had bothered me for no

    reason…

If it weren’t for Ye-rim and Ye-jin, I probably would have been doing similar things to those people on TV.

Honestly, if you brought the people who cursed at me and harassed me in front of me right now, I’d want to cripple them one limb at a time,

even if I didn’t kill them all.

Ah, the man who slapped me on the bus will have an ice spear directly embedded in his cheek, especially on his cheek. Of course, if he catches

    my eye.

Even I, who rarely goes out of the house, have this much resentment built up, so if you think about the oppression and terror that other

ordinary users have received, I thought that this kind of thing could happen. I didn’t think it would be on that kind of scale, though.

“Oppa probably knows it well then. The things that our users have endured are not one or two.”

“Of course, I’m a user too. It might have been worse if I were a different race. There are statistics that demon or werewolf races get splashed

with water or get into fights every day when they go outside. I guess it’s fortunate that they only destroyed buildings to that extent… I

honestly thought that demon or werewolf users would cause a mass slaughter. Especially werewolves. Because of their race-specific abilities,

berserking is unavoidable, but they were the most oppressed because of that.”

“I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but you guessed it right. As you guessed, there was a mass slaughter recently caused by users. Some

werewolf users with extreme ideologies indiscriminately found and killed passersby in the middle of downtown Seoul. They were eventually

shot to death by the military, but by that time, the number of people they had killed was in the hundreds… It was a complete mess.”

    “…Wow. That’s a bit serious.”

“There are other reasons, but… decisively, that incident is why people are trying not to go outside even though it’s the weekend. Terror or

similar events are constantly occurring all over the country, so there’s no guarantee that such a massacre won’t happen again. Everyone hates

to die, so they’re all of one mind.”

“Well, it’s all their own fault. Most of the vested interests stepped up and oppressed the users…”

I didn’t particularly feel like commemorating the victims of that massacre.

Even if you think about the number of users who chose suicide due to discrimination and oppression from ordinary people, I also thought

that that level of massacre was a reasonable revenge for the people who oppressed us or remained indifferent to blatant discrimination.

I had no intention of defending the irresponsible criminal acts of those extreme users, but because of the resentment and pent-up feelings

towards the people of the world that I had endured, their actions felt justified.

I don’t know why, but since my body changed like this, my thoughts keep flowing in that direction.

Nonsensical thoughts such as that ordinary people who aren’t users are okay to die, or that there are so many people in the world that culling

is urgent to solve environmental pollution.

Honestly, I considered going to a psychiatrist, but I didn’t go because I felt like going there and acknowledging that I was mentally ill.

The problem is, I had those strange thoughts before, but since I awakened my status window last time, the frequency with which I regarded

human life as not much different from the life of a fly has started to increase even more. I might have to go to a psychiatrist for real soon.

    Slap slap.

I slapped my own cheek to wash away the negative thoughts.

If I, the oldest here, am having these negative thoughts, it might have a bad influence on Ye-jin or Ye-rim…

“That’s right, it’s not all bad. The gaze that looked at us badly has now changed to a gaze that is afraid of us. It’s better for them to be afraid of

us than to simply despise us. No one will bother us when we walk down the street now. Isn’t it fun? The way people make fearful expressions

    whenever they see us.”

“I agree too. It doesn’t feel good to be cursed at out of nowhere by someone you’ve never met, no matter how much I try to ignore it. I feel

more comfortable living in a situation where people are dying a little… I’m tired of being cursed at every time I reveal that I’m a user.”

It seems that I’m not the only one who has come to take human death lightly.
