Chapter Index

    Flash!

A huge flash of light occurred in Tbilisi Square outside the hotel.

There was a shriek that sounded like metal scratching with fingernails on an iron door.

Everyone in the hotel reflexively looks out the window at the sudden situation. Even the monsters that were rushing towards them were losing their attention to the sight.

Sejun thought for a moment, wondering what kind of situation this was, but soon he was able to think of an answer.

    ─Keee

    ─Whoa, whoa whoa

    ─Kerrr

Not only Sejun but everyone in the hotel looked at the monsters’ reactions and came up with an answer to that question.

The monsters suddenly scream and run out of the hotel. They flee in a haphazard and disorderly manner, as if they had heard a signal to retreat.

Outside the window, I could see the black light rising from the square fading away.

The dimensional anchor was destroyed. Dean Northmund succeeded.

    “I lived!”

“Professor succeeded! Hahaha! Fuck! We lived!”

A lot of people can be heard cheering from downstairs. Sejun also hyperventilated from the overwhelming relief and leaned against the window where the monsters escaped.

    ─Bang! Quagwagwang!

An explosion occurred somewhere and the fleeing army of monsters were being massacred. Their ranks collapse and lightning bolts searching for prey tear them apart.

This is the dean. The Dean is coming back.

I see him flying in the sky from afar. I was holding someone in my chest. He was the leader of Jang A-hyun and Han Se-jun’s group.

    ‘I’m glad you’re safe.’

Sejun was heartbroken when he saw that she was safe. You don’t know how devastated I was when I heard that I was going with a professor.

But I’m glad you seem to be safe. Han Se-jun, who was looking at the scene with a smile, felt his heart tickle little by little.

When I saw the leader in the dean’s arms with a happy expression on his face, as if he was hugging a princess, something seemed to be missing. Sheesh, seeing how she’s being treated with such pampering, I guess she didn’t have much trouble.

Sejun, who was lightly clicking his tongue, suddenly made eye contact with the red dragon in the air and felt him smiling lightly.

    ‘what.’

A vibration was felt from the window he was leaning against, the entire wall fell off, and he came down and stepped into the empty space.

Jang Ah-hyun, who was in his arms, lightly comes down and smiles.

“Leader! You’re safe. The clothes are full of blood, but I wonder if they belong to the leader. No, I’m really glad you’re safe.”

“Yes, Tania. Thank you for your hard work.”

Jang Ah-hyun, who smiled lightly at Tania, looks at Han Se-jun this time.

When he thinks of her flying away while being held by Northmund, Han Se-jun suddenly becomes pouty and spits out a little crookedly without even realizing it.

“You’re back. So, did you and the Dean have a good time together?”

Sejun scratches his head and speaks bluntly. The dean chuckled as if he knew everything about his attitude, and Jang A-hyeon frowned.

“Ugh… Well, it looks like you had a hard time too. I also had a bit of a hard time. Where are Muriel and Yue? Are you both okay?”

“Yes. Muriel was a little hurt, but both are okay. Over there now… ”

Sejun is slowly speaking, but Jang Ah-hyun doesn’t even listen to his words until the end, and just moves on and disappears into the hallway.

Sejun sighed again at that blunt attitude of lack of interest.

Seeing that scene, Dean Dragon chuckled and felt a little envious. No, they said they would come in 10 minutes! And what were you two doing so late…

    “Professor!”

“Professor, you’re back! Ahhh! I lived!!!”

As Sejun looked at the dean with a sullen expression, other guys came up from downstairs and cheered.

As he was biting his lip because he was feeling awkward for some reason, he caught the sight of the dean lightly tapping his shoulder.

Try acting like a man. Leaving behind an unknown statement, the dragon wags its tail and walks towards the students who are greeting them.

Tania speaks to him, whose expression becomes even more sullen as his doubts grow stronger at Northmund’s words.

“Let’s go too, Sejun. Thank you for your help. If you hadn’t joined, I wouldn’t have been able to survive on my own. Thank you so much.”

    “Ah. Ah yes.”

Sejun lowered his head. The awkwardness of being thanked was a feeling he was not yet familiar with. It would have been better to criticize him like Dean Northmund.

Tania grinned at the sight and grabbed his hand.

    “Let’s go Sejun.”

    “Ah, okay, let’s go… Ouch!”

The moment he was about to respond to her words, he felt something lifting his feet and the two of them moved forward at a fast pace.

I felt like I was riding an electric kickboard, and when I hurriedly looked down, I saw my own shadow moving forward with a round smiley face, supporting two people.

    “Muriel!”

“Jun! It’s coming so slowly. Do I really have to stab him in the side like this? You really have no sense!”

“No, Muriel! Stop with that! Stop!”

    “Aaagh!”

Wow! With a sound, Sejun collided with Nakajima and rolled on the floor together.

There was a carpet in the hallway, so it didn’t hurt, but rolling on the floor while hugging her was another crisis.

People burst into laughter as they see both his face and the woman in his arms blushing.

Sejun felt that another crisis had come in his life following the last time he had chosen a weapon.

“Sorry Jun. Actually, I originally wanted to hug her, but I ended up hurting my hand, so I hope Yue-chan will bear it. Hehe.”

Seeing her giggling and waving her healthy left hand, Sejun sighed heavily.

At that sight, Sejun was filled with jealousy again because the dean was making the same embarrassed expression even though he wasn’t there.

When Sejun glares at the dean, he chuckles and continues.

“Um… Thank you all for your hard work. Although unexpected hardships arose, everyone persevered. There were many unfortunate sacrifices, but everyone held on strong.”

A voice that seems a little hesitant. Everyone became depressed after hearing those words. There were also those who made loud moaning noises.

Yes, it was a huge sacrifice. Most of them were seriously injured and there were many unfortunate deaths.

Although he achieved a great victory, he made too many sacrifices in his first appearance. Until recently, they were colleagues who had been in the same unit, trained together, ate together, and lived in the same space.

They, who had been alive and warm only a few hours ago, crossed the river from which they could no longer return. It was something I couldn’t help but feel depressed about.

Sensing the calm atmosphere, the dean made an um sound and continued speaking.

“But we won and gained valuable experience. Today you will all have realized what it means to fight against monsters. And this battle will continue countless times in the future. Your colleagues may die, and someday you yourself may also fall.”

“… Is this battle going to continue? that… I don’t like that… Hehehe.”

    “Kelly!”

A female student begins to cry. She is hugging a male student who appears to be her lover. The boy urges her.

Was it Luke Hengistbury? He was a talented person who ranked 8th on the leaderboard.

However, his arm was hanging precariously on his shoulder, as if he had managed to reconnect it with a potion after being cut off. I felt like I needed to get surgery urgently.

“No, I can definitely answer this. The struggle is not permanent. Next 7 years. In seven years, this period of struggle will end. No, it might end sooner.”

Students sigh when they hear the words 7 years. It must be a period that doesn’t make sense. No matter how positive it is, isn’t 7 years too long a time?

This is the time when elementary school students who used to watch animations of penguins wearing pilot hats will become adults who look through major books.

“But if you don’t hold on, everyone will die. Look at this city. It was a city with over 1 million citizens, but after less than a day, no one survived. If you cannot endure, humanity will end. Shouldn’t you protect your family, friends, and everyone you care about? So, take today’s events as a lesson. Don’t give up and keep moving forward.”

    “… .”

Sensing the noisy silence continuing, Sejun clicked his tongue lightly.

I kept my mouth shut because the air felt like I needed to hold my breath for some reason, but isn’t that such an obvious statement? Why on earth are these people worried?

“What is it, you guys. Didn’t the dean say the obvious? Since I received strength from the dean, I should naturally follow the dean’s instructions. I’m not using my power for personal gain, I’m using it for humanity, so why on earth are you worrying? Didn’t you prepare for everything when you came here to Ellada? At least I came in prepared to die.”

Everyone’s eyes are focused on him as he leans against the wall. Everyone looks at themselves with surprise. Sejun clicked his tongue again as he received those stares.

    “That is correct.”

    Li Jiyuan opened her mouth.

Li Yingying and an Asian man were supporting him. Li Jiyuan’s left leg had already been cut off and was tied with rope to stop the bleeding.

It seemed like they used the hotel’s first aid kit to provide sloppy first aid, but it looked dangerous. Blood continues to seep from the bandage on the end of the leg.

He opens his mouth with a pale, bloodless face.

“I had a big misunderstanding. Coming into this academy, I thought everyone was competition. I was obsessed with being the first awakened person and thought everyone was my enemy. But today I realized that it meant nothing.”

He took a moment to catch his breath and continued.

“They were all comrades who had to fight together, not enemies. Rather, it was an obsession that was eating away at my heart. Foolishly, I only realized it today. With this kind of narrow-minded thinking, you can never fight and win against monsters. My world was so small. Who would have thought that being a frog in a well was something they were talking about about me.”

    “Li Jiyuan!”

Li Yingying urges him in a surprised voice. The man on the right also seemed surprised. Who would have thought that he, with his strong pride, would say something like this.

“Phew, I see. I also realized something. I also agree with what Lee said.”

“Huh, what are you all talking about like a wise man? Yeah, well, that’s true, but.”

Gideon nods, and Jimmy grins as well, crossing his arms with his left hand down.

Meanwhile, Sejun saw Jimmy’s left hand, which he was trying to hide. Sejun clicked his tongue in sadness because two of the fingers on his left hand were blown off.

Northmund looked at them and nodded slightly.

Just as he had expected, his high expectations crushed the anxiety that was blooming among the hunters and brought hope again to everyone.

It was a huge loss, but it was somehow resolved well.

“Thank you everyone. Your will will one day be rewarded. It is you who will save the world, not anyone else.”

He then lightly clenches his fist and announces his final goal. This is the answer that everyone here is eagerly waiting for.

The sound of his scales clattering rings out.

“Okay, then shall we go back? Let’s all go home and get some rest.”

At those words, waaaa and cheers erupt.

Yes, there were great sacrifices, but if everyone can use this as a driving force to move forward, it is truly fortunate.

What he was worried about was that everyone would lose their will to fight and give up, but that didn’t happen.

Let’s move on. It becomes a shield for humanity that mourns and does not forget the deaths of its comrades, but never gives up on moving forward.

And when this period of struggle ends, they will be able to truly smile in peace.

These days of pain will surely end someday. Northmund himself knows the original work. That the attacks of monsters will one day end and an era of peaceful development will come.

And the day will surely come when peaceful romance novels from that era become reality.

what… Of course, I’m not sure what will happen to the main character of the novel.

It is questionable whether he will be born properly or whether he will cross the dimension and be forgotten forever.

While thinking about that, Northmund looked at the brown-haired woman clinging to him next to him and looked a little embarrassed.
