    Chapter 240: Martyrs

    Episode 240

    “Reinforcements!”

    “The Alliance army has arrived!”

    “Thank god…!”

The Alpha Clan members’ faces brightened as they saw the reinforcements arriving.

But no one was happier than Duke.

    ‘We’re saved!’

He had been on the verge of panicking after Hemingston, his only support, was killed.

‘If they all join forces and help us…!’

    “Everyone, disperse!”

    “……?!”

His hopes were dashed by Yoo Jun-ho’s shout.

“Return to your clans and report the situation! Don’t charge at those monsters recklessly! You’ll be wiped out!”

    “Understood!”

    “Then…!”

The Vice Masters, who had been huddled together, immediately scattered and ran towards their respective clans.

Within seconds, not a single Vice Master remained in his sight.

    “Let’s go too!”

    “Yes, sir.”

Yoo Jun-ho and Hong Yeon-seok, the Team 1 Leader of the Korean Clan, were the last to leave.

    ‘That bastard…!’

Duke glared at Yoo Jun-ho’s back, his eyes burning with rage. It was the only thing he could do.

It was clear that the Vice Masters considered Yoo Jun-ho, not him, as their leader.

‘They’re not going to retreat without fighting, are they?’

He watched them leave, his face filled with anxiety.

    And his worries came true.

    “Jun-ho!”

    “Master!”

Yoo Jun-ho met Yong Hangil, who was at the forefront of the Korean Clan’s forces.

“It seems you encountered some trouble on your way here.”

He said, looking at the bloodstains on their armor and the bandages on some of their subordinates.

They looked like they had just come from a battle.

    “We didn’t fight anyone.”

    “What? Then why…?”

    “I’ll explain later.”

    Yong Hangil changed the subject.

He was embarrassed that a prestigious Major Clan like the Korean Clan had been attacked by terrorists three times.

    “Anyway…”

He looked at Yoo Jun-ho and Team Leader Hong, who seemed relatively unharmed, and asked about the situation.

    “What’s going on?”

“The entire Alpha Clan is struggling against those monsters summoned by Kim Jinsung. Hemingston is dead.”

    “W-what?! Hemingston is…?!”

He was shocked. The clan members behind him also had similar expressions on their faces.

Yoo Jun-ho continued, seeing their disbelief,

“It’s true. All the Vice Masters who were there saw it. Those monsters are that strong! Don’t approach them recklessly. Stay in the rear and prioritize your safety.”

    “Hmm… Alright.”

Yong Hangil thought for a moment and then shouted,

“Everyone, get into defensive formation! Those monsters are strong enough to kill Hemingston, so don’t attack them first!”

    “Yes, sir!”

The Korean Clan members immediately activated their shields and took their positions.

He muttered to himself, still in disbelief,

“Hemingston is dead. The great Hemingston…”

The news of Hemingston’s death was a huge shock to him.

It was one of the reasons why he had immediately ordered his clan to switch to a defensive formation. There was no better way to explain the monsters’ strength than to say that they had killed Hemingston.

The problem was that the other clans were also reacting in a similar way.

    “Don’t charge ahead!”

“Those monsters killed Hemingston! We’ll die if we attack them!”

“Stay back and focus on defense!”

They were all forming defensive formations, keeping their distance from the monsters.

As a result, the only ones fighting the monsters were the Alpha Clan members.

A strange phenomenon had occurred, where none of the reinforcements sent to support the Alpha Clan were actually fighting.

“What are you all doing?! Help us!”

Duke shouted, but it was no use.

The rumors of the monsters being ‘strong enough to kill Hemingston’ had instilled fear in their hearts.

‘They killed Hemingston, you want us to charge at them?’

‘It’s not even our clan. Why should we die for them?’

They all had similar thoughts and stayed at the edge of the Alpha Clan headquarters, refusing to move.

    “You bastards…!!”

Duke trembled with rage, seeing the alliance army’s inaction.

    **Boom! Boom!**

    “Ugh…!”

    “Argh…!”

Alpha Clan members continued to fall against the Omurgas’ attacks.

At this rate, the Alpha Clan would be wiped out before the alliance army’s eyes.

    “Vice Master!”

Quinton, the Team 1 Leader, who had been directing the battle, ran towards Duke.

“We’ll be wiped out if this continues!”

“What are you talking about?! The alliance army sent so many reinforcements!”

“But they’re not moving! They’re clearly waiting for us to be wiped out before they do anything.”

Duke, still agitated, shouted at Quinton, who was trying to stay calm,

“Then what do you want me to do?! Do you have a solution?”

“We need to retreat to Point B!”

    “What?!”

His voice rose an octave. Was he suggesting that they abandon their headquarters and flee?

“It’s better to escape with the remaining survivors than to be wiped out here!

We need to survive to take revenge!”

“Shut up! Do you think I’m an idiot who can’t even grasp the situation?!”

    He cut him off.

“We’ve already lost over half of our clan members! We might not even be able to keep our Major Clan status at this rate!”

    “……”

“And you want us to abandon our headquarters and flee to Point B in the Red Zone?

That’s practically the same as leaving the Center Zone!”

Quinton couldn’t answer. He was right.

With Hemingston gone and their numbers dwindling, they needed to protect their headquarters at all costs to maintain their Major Clan status.

“…But there’s no way we can defend the headquarters, Vice Master.”

    He said coldly, and

    **Boom!**

Another explosion erupted, and several subordinates were sent flying.

Duke gritted his teeth, his mind made up.

    “No, there is a way.”

    “What?”

    “Awaken the Martyrs.”

    Quinton’s eyes widened in shock.

    Martyrs.

It was a word known only to a select few within the Alpha Clan, a top secret that should never be uttered in public.

“What are you saying?! Martyrs?! Have you forgotten Master’s orders to never unleash them?!”

“I know! But there’s one exception! We’re allowed to awaken them if the Alpha Clan is on the verge of destruction!”

    “But…!”

“Look around! If this isn’t the verge of destruction, then what is?!”

He pointed, and Quinton looked in that direction.

Another building collapsed from the Omurgas’ attacks.

There wasn’t a single intact building left in the Alpha Clan’s territory.

“If you don’t want to see the Alpha Clan completely destroyed, bring me the key to the Martyrs’ seal.”

    “……”

“That’s an order! Now that Hemingston is dead, I, Duke, am the leader of the Alpha Clan! If you refuse, I’ll behead you right now!”

He glared at Duke, his eyes bloodshot.

Quinton hesitated for a moment and then nodded.

    “…Understood. Follow me.”

He led Duke towards a secluded part of the headquarters.

    Five minutes later,

    **Boom!**

An explosion erupted from the direction they had gone, and several figures leaped into the air.

    “…What?”

    “Who are they?”

All eyes in the Alpha Clan headquarters turned to the figures in the air.

    Even the Omurgas looked up.

There was a reason why they had suddenly captured everyone’s attention.

The energy emanating from each of the figures was incredibly powerful.

    “Target acquired.”

    “Kill them all!”

They were dressed like martial arts masters from a movie, without any armor, and they started descending towards the Omurgas.

    One master per Omurga.

    *Roarrr!*

    The Omurgas reacted immediately.

They swung their massive arms, tipped with sharp claws, at the descending masters.

Their attacks, filled with incredible speed and power,

    **Thud!**

    “Ugh…!”

    Sent the masters flying.

    “Ah…!”

    “What? That was disappointing.”

The Alpha Clan members couldn’t hide their disappointment, seeing the masters being easily defeated.

But the real show was just beginning.

    “Raaaaaargh!!”

The masters roared in mid-air, twisted their bodies, and charged towards the Omurgas again.

They were even faster than before.

The Omurgas swung their other arms at the approaching masters, and

    **Slice!**

Two of Omurga’s fingers were severed.

The outcome was completely different from before.

    “Whoa?!”

    “What the…?”

The Alpha Clan members were stunned by the sudden change in the tide of battle.

And the same thing was happening with the other Omurgas and masters.

    **Slice! Slash! Slice!**

The masters, who had initially struggled, were now overwhelming the Omurgas, inflicting large and small wounds on their bodies.

    One-on-one.

    “Oh my god…!”

    “How is that possible?”

    “Who are those monsters?”

Not only the Alpha Clan members, but also the alliance troops who had come to support them, were watching in awe.

But some of them were looking at the masters with a different expression.

    “Those are definitely…!”

Yong Hangil and the other executives of the Korean Clan were among them.

    “I think the same, Master.”

Yoo Jun-ho said, his face grim, seeing Yong Hangil’s shocked expression.

    He continued,

“They’re ability users with the same abilities as Allobon.”
