Episode 115: The Angel Goes to Sea (14)
Leffrey had a dark dream. The same nightmare as usual, but it felt even darker today. It was as if the overall tone of his vision had been lowered.
Even though it was a dream he always had, he felt a little more afraid today.
“My little angel.”
A being was looking at the boy hidden under the sofa.
That being with black hair and red eyes looked more angelic than any other being, but it was definitely *not* someone who could be called an angel.
“Accept more of my power…”
The boy, covering his mouth, weeping, just stared at that being, unable to move or speak.
“And then exact your revenge.”
The demon king whispered.
His voice was so seductive,
He was tempting the boy to sin.
“All those humans, no, those demons involved. Starting with this body’s father, his entire family. Every employee serving that family. The superhumans hired to kill. Their sons and daughters. Their friends. All of them.”
The demon king smiled.
“Let’s kill them all, every single last one of them.”
He gently caressed the boy’s cheek, his red eyes glowing.
“Let’s kill all the demons and make this world a peaceful place.”
Leffrey, hearing those words…
“Huff… Huff…”
Leffrey woke up in a cold sweat.
“The demon king’s mental interference…”
Shake shake- Leffrey shook his head to clear his mind, then pat pat- he slapped his cheeks a couple of times to completely wake up.
“I suspected that there would be side effects, but I can handle this much.”
It would be arrogant to think that he could absorb the demon king’s karma, such a powerful force, and experience no side effects.
Even though Leffrey was aware there would be side effects, he didn’t give up on stealing the demon king’s karma.
‘That overwhelming demonic power that made the Silver Shoes vibrate. To catch up, I have to do whatever it takes.’
Why? Because the demon king was such a powerful being. So powerful that victory seemed impossible with ordinary methods.
To think that even a mere avatar could face the professors and Captain Jeb, to even corner the Academy students and Mariana troops…
Truly, he was a being beyond measure, befitting the world’s strongest.
‘Well, of course, he was only able to fight like that because of the special properties of karma…’
Leffrey, imitating the children’s exercise routine he had seen before, stretched, extending his limbs.
“Hmm…”
He then naturally opened his status window.

“Ah…”
Leffrey nodded, looking at his status window.
“Just looking at it comforts me…”
What is healing? This was healing. A record-breaking level up achieved by stealing karma from the demon king. Every single word was beautiful.
They say people who love money feel healed when looking at their bank account balance. Our Leffrey, the Greed Angel, felt something similar as he looked at his status window.
‘This is so awesome… if I get level-ups like this every day, I could even become a professor at the Central Academy next year.’
His level had doubled, as had his HP and MP. His three main skills, Fairy Martial Arts, True Cheongu Swordsmanship, and Klein-style Magic, all improved, and…
‘From Lv. 5 and above, abilities cost a tremendous amount of Angelic Power to level up so I could only raise one level, but still…’
His Strength stat had exceeded 50, and his other stats had also drastically increased. He could now say that, excluding Soya, Hongwol, and Yumari, he was no longer inferior to anyone in the first year, at least in terms of stats.
And lastly…
‘Martial Arts of the Archangel who Tramples Dragons Lv.9…!’
When Martial Arts of the Archangel who Tramples Dragons reached level 9, with the words ‘critical threshold reached’, a new message popped up saying [You can now attempt to break through the threshold.].
It also said…
[Choose carefully. You can only choose one Angelic Ability to break through the threshold.]
‘Break through the threshold. To think I can only choose one… is it like a job change in online games? Then could this be… a chance to acquire an Ultimate Skill?’
Leffrey decided to ask Leffriel when he woke up.
‘Speaking of Leffriel, his sleep is getting longer and longer these days.’
His worries increased.
Leffrey sighed and tried summoning the Inquisition Sword.
The shattered Inquisition Sword. It was broken into so many pieces that he didn’t even know where to begin repairing it.
“…Haah.”
To be honest, he had lost a lot.
Leffriel being injured by that succubus, one of the Demon King’s Four Heavenly Kings, was one thing, but the completely shattered Inquisition Sword. And then, him being exposed as an angel.
‘I can’t believe so many other organizations, besides the Seocheon Yu, knew that I was an angel…’
Then it meant that even the professors… had probably realized he was an angel. But they were pretending not to notice, playing along with this little angel.
‘The professors…’
Leffrey sighed and washed his face.
Then came a rumbling sound.
‘I’m hungry…’
But Leffrey didn’t bother thinking about what to eat. Because the real festival was starting today.
‘The celebration to commemorate defeating the demon king… a carnival…!’
Leffrey glanced outside. He saw Central Academy students and Mariana soldiers working together to set up tents for the festival.
‘How heartwarming. Why couldn’t they just act like this from the start?’
Leffrey smiled bitterly. So the only way to make factions that hate each other get along was to create a common enemy.
And as the reaction to the hatred that had been stirred by the Seven Trumpets suddenly vanishing, the students and soldiers were showering each other with kindness and consideration that were practically saintly.
‘This incident was perfectly resolved. Leffrey, are you actually talented as an angel?’
[Bringing peace to a region is an angelic act!]
[You have gained Angelic Power.]
Leffrey nodded. Even the messages acknowledged his angelic capabilities.
No more Stupid Angel.
From now on, he was… Leffrey, the Genius Angel!
‘Genius Angel, what a cool title… It even has ‘Heaven’ twice! I have to use this title from now on, and only show them how genius I am!’ (TL Note: Basically the word ‘genius’ has in hanja is ‘天才’ and in Chinese they also use 天 to refer to heaven/sky. That’s why Leffrey is saying it has heaven in it twice, referring to the Korean hanja and Chinese.)
Leffrey, the Delusional Angel, was lost in his fantasies. But, well, as long as Leffrey was enjoying himself, it was fine.
And then, *Thump thump*—Leffrey heard the sound of military boots approaching from behind him.
‘This sound… Don’t tell me…?’
Leffrey, who had been diligently raising his stats…
His superhuman senses were now sharp enough to even guess who the person was just by their footsteps.
‘Heavy footsteps, someone big. But balanced. A well-trained, muscular physique. Probably a soldier in good shape. And…’
And the confident aura unique to someone who had reached the peak of superhuman abilities. That attitude that said that he had nothing to fear in this world.
Leffrey knew one man like that.
“Captain Jeb?”
“…Do you have a detection skill? Or are your stats just that high?”
Leffrey shook his head.
“I was just guessing.”
“Hmph, a flimsy lie.”
Jeb confidently said,
“We made a wager, right? About the ownership of this Mariana Camp and myself. I swear on my mana.”
“Yes, we did.”
“You know this too, but this camp and I are incredibly valuable strategic assets. I’m not bragging, it’s objectively true.”
Jeb muttered, as if he had a headache,
“So what are you going to do? You could gain unimaginable wealth, fame, and power by using Mariana Camp and myself. Even if you simply held onto us, you could wield power beyond your wildest dreams.”
Jeb asked again,
“So, what are you going to do?”
Leffrey looked up at Jeb, then answered without any hesitation.
“This is my answer.”
Leffrey said with a smile,
“I will completely relinquish all rights to Mariana Camp and you, Captain.”
“…What?”
Jeb, with a stunned expression, muttered as if he couldn’t understand,
“Relinquishing everything? It seems you’re still too young to understand… just how great this reward is.”
“No, I understand perfectly. If I had this, then I could spend money like a king and live my life as a powerful figure, just like you. But…”
Leffrey truly had a gift for making angelic expressions.
“I don’t want to own anyone. And this island belongs to humanity. How could I possibly have it… Just like how you can’t put a price on that ocean or the sun…”
With just a few words and an expression, he could move people’s heartstrings.
“People, even you, Captain Jeb… are all precious beings.”
Leffrey’s expression was so incredibly kind, it made one wonder if angels existed, would they look like this? Jeb, momentarily embarrassed, his face bright red, couldn’t even look at Leffrey.
“…Okay, ah… shit… This is embarrassing. To think I tried to test a kid like you.”
Then Captain Jeb sighed.
“Enjoy the festival. And…”
[Healing the mental wounds of a wounded hero is truly an angelic act!]
[You have gained a large amount of Angelic Power.]
[Moving Jeb Arcada, The God of Strength, is truly an angelic act!] (TL Note: Could also be “God of Strength,” instead of “Divine Power.”)
[You have gained a large amount of Angelic Power.]
“Mariana never forgets a favor. Remember this well. The one who’s backing you.”
Then Jeb left.
Leffrey, watching Jeb as he left, let out a deep sigh.
“That was close. I almost got caught.”
Suddenly, a question arises.
Just what did he manage to ‘get away with’? And why did Leffrey, the Greed Angel, give up on such a massive gain, the Mariana Camp and Jeb Arcada
‘Jeb Arcada is known for having the highest Strength stat in the world. His specialty is power that can’t be tricked by any gimmick (skill). That’s why Jeb is famous for barely even using any skills.’
To barely use skills…
…meant that he rarely uses mana.
‘Therefore, Jeb often uses the ‘mana oath’ tactic when he needs something. Because even if he loses all his mana, it doesn’t matter to him, but it does for his opponent.’
Of course, the only one who knew about this right now was Jeb Arcada. No one would know unless they were Leffrey, who had come from the future.
‘If I had been greedy for Jeb and Mariana Camp…’
…Leffrey would have made an enemy out of Jeb and Mariana Camp. Jeb would have judged Leffrey as just another greedy brat.
But Leffrey, who knew all this, was able to gain both the favor of Captain Jeb, who effectively controlled Mariana Camp, and fill up his Angelic Power.
“…Ugh, now that I’m relaxed, I’m starving.”
Leffrey hurriedly dashed outside. Juicy meat and sweet sauces awaited.
“Leffrey! You overslept!”
Soya, who had been teased for her swimsuit, was now confidently showing off a more mature one to Leffrey.
Twinkle twinkle—Soya’s eyes sparkled, as if seeking praise… but Leffrey could only describe her as ‘cute.’
‘If I just say ‘cute’, Soya will be mad.’
Leffrey became a bit troubled.
And his trouble intensified even more because…
“Ah, boy, you’re awake.”
… Of Hongwol, who had a mouth full of sausage, and her provocative swimsuit went beyond just an underwater combat suit.
“A-Ah, n-no. That… that… that… damn cat…”
It was revealing enough to even make Soya turn red.
“Hmph, a little too much stimulation for a witch who’s always cooped up in her room, researching?”
“What are you saying?! Kyaa! Where on earth did the disciplinary committee go?!”
“Ah, I beat them up earlier.”
Leffrey, seeing Hongwol’s revealing appearance, immediately ran towards the sea.
‘I-If I stay here, I’ll become a Perverted Angel…!’
*Splash*—He had to cool off in the sea.
Leffrey, gazing at the clear, blue South Sea, shouted with joy.
“Woah.”
Coral reefs of all colors, and colorful tropical fish. The breaching of a massive spirit whale, and lastly, the hand of a dragon girl, calmly swimming in the sea.
There was paradise in this South Sea.
“I knew you would come into the sea.”
“…How did you know?”
“Because I know all about people like you. Foolishly kind, innocent, untainted… a being so beautiful, I just want to protect you.”
Yumari smiled meaningfully.
And that smile was so…
“I know everything about people like you.”
Leffrey thought once again.
That this world was truly beautiful.
Thus, Leffrey’s first summer of his first year at the academy came to an end.
