Chapter 3 Compass of Destiny(2)
by AfuhfuihgsI can’t pinpoint exactly when, but heroes born across the continent and the kingdoms are all said to be born with ‘destiny’.
‘To suddenly receive the destiny of a swordsman again.’
While reminiscing in the training ground and just holding a gladius, a new destiny greeted me.
“Changing Compass of Destiny!”
“You are a hero destined to be a <Mage>.”
*First Crossroads <Apprentice Mage>
- Inevitability: <Basic Mana Control>
“You are a hero destined to be a <Swordsman>.”
*First Crossroads <Genius Swordsman>
- Inevitability: <Flexible Absorption>
*Second Crossroads <Battlefield Sword Demon>
- Inevitability: <Indomitable Body>
*Third Crossroads <Master of the Sword>
- Inevitability: <Mana at the Sword’s Edge>
*Fourth Crossroads <Knight of the Tempest>
- Inevitability: <Footsteps of the Falling Leaves>
*Fifth Crossroads <Sword’s enlightened one>
- Inevitability: <???>
“You are a hero destined to be <???>.”
*First Crossroads <???>
Under the destiny of <Mage> which was first chosen for me, the destiny of <Swordsman> and its crossroads were neatly laid out.
It was astonishing to receive a new destiny, and even more so that the starting crossroads was the fifth.
The fifth crossroads is a stage that receives immense attention and the highest treatment even within the kingdom.
Heroes who possess this are often called ‘Pioneers of Destiny’ with grand names.
Because there are so few of them, they are extremely rare even across the continent.
‘Is this decision fitting for my current level?’
However, I somewhat understand why the starting stage is so high.
I have returned after spending ten years in another realm.
Naturally, I now possess skills far superior to those who have just awakened their destinies.
For me to receive a destiny like <Apprentice Knight> or <Unskilled Swordsman> would have been even more unusual.
“Master Edgar, are you alright?”
As I was deep in thought, Ray, who had been waiting behind me, suddenly approached and asked.
It must have seemed strange for me to suddenly enter the training ground and stand there holding a gladius for so long.
I cleared my throat and returned the gladius to its place.
“I’m fine.”
