Chapter Index

    My, My~

    My, My~

“Has anyone here read a book published in the medical powerhouse?”

    “……”

“Right, medicine isn’t a required subject in Maris yet.”

It’s a bitter reality no matter how many times I see it.

Of course, considering that even the modern medicine of the place I lived in has a history of barely 100 years, it’s understandable.

“But even if you don’t know the knowledge, you’ll understand to some extent. Where it’s most fatal to hit when attacking a person, and which parts must be protected when defending.”

I continued the explanation while drawing circles on each part of the human anatomy diagram.

“The most important parts of the human body in body techniques are the organs and joints, these two.”

    Important organs.

    And highlighting the joint areas.

“Among these, in the case of organs, it’s fatal no matter where you hit, not just the heart and brain. Especially in the case of the abdomen, which isn’t protected by the ribs, unless it’s protected by fat and muscle, most impacts are directly transmitted to the interior.”

Sometimes people think they can get back up no matter where they’re hit as long as they protect the vital points, but that’s a misconception.

Not only the solar plexus that isn’t protected by the sternum, but also the lower abdomen below it, if you cunningly dig in and strike upwards at the part just above the side where the ribs can’t block, even if it’s not instant death, it leads to paralysis of action itself for a certain period.

“And even those of you who don’t know about the human body will understand to some extent. Since organs are fatal no matter where they’re hit, if the purpose is non-lethal, attacking such areas should be excluded as much as possible… So your techniques probably don’t consider attacking parts that aren’t protected by bones in the first place.”

I immediately circled the part below the ribs on the anatomy diagram, where a considerable number of organs are exposed, and looked back at them.

Areas that could lead to death even if attacked by mistake.

Places considered absolutely off-limits for attack if the goal is subduing rather than killing, these areas were plastered all over the body except for the limbs.

To engage in combat while excluding so many attack points. There should be a limit to being unreasonable.

“But if the goal is non-lethal subduing, targeting the body might actually be the right answer.”

    “What? What do you mean…”

    “For example, this part.”

Interrupting the Disciplinary Committee member expressing doubt, I drew a small circle on one of the areas I had circled earlier.

An organ protruding halfway below the ribs.

    It was the liver.

“This part called the liver has the property of gathering and detoxifying toxins in the body, and naturally, since it deals with toxins, it gets damaged a lot, and therefore it’s also the organ with the highest regenerative power among the body’s organs. In fact, even if about 2/3 of this liver is lost, there’s no problem in its functioning.”

    “As much as 2/3…?”

“Yes, because it’s so sturdy and has high resilience, it’s the most frequently mentioned part in transplant surgeries.”

    “Transplant surgeries…?”

The Disciplinary Committee members tilted their heads as if finding my words unfamiliar.

It’s natural since they don’t know about medicine, but their eyes focused on the blackboard showed concentration, as if they thought what I was saying wasn’t nonsense.

Well, for now, it’s enough to know that the liver is damn sturdy.

“But while such a sturdy and tenacious part has some resistance to pain, conversely, the fact that such a sturdy part is significantly damaged means that the body is under that much stress. Simply put, when this part is attacked, our subconscious throws a warning to the entire body.”

Yes, all the nerves in the body are essentially connected.

If too much oxygen is needed, breathing increases accordingly, and if you lose a lot of blood, the blood supply to other parts of the body decreases as more blood is gathered to the bleeding area.

This applies to the liver as well.

“In other words, if you apply a certain amount of impact to the sturdiest part among the organs…”

With that explanation, I struck the marked part on the blackboard with my fist.

“…It triggers an emergency signal throughout the body, causing temporary paralysis of all parts of the body.”

At that moment, some of the Disciplinary Committee members flinched as if they had been hit themselves, but contrary to their wariness, while the liver is a vital point, it’s also one of the few parts where you don’t die from a single attack.

Isn’t liver blow a signature technique even in boxing, a non-lethal sport?

In fact, it’s a more fatal area than the solar plexus, which is protected by muscles, but since you don’t die even if hit, attacking this area is tacitly allowed even in sports.

If I had to make a comparison… Right.

It’s like the balls that can be legally hit even in sports.

“Besides this, there are quite a few parts that aren’t protected by bones but are out of the dead zone… How about it, don’t you feel that the range of possible attacks for you has widened just from this?”

The Disciplinary Committee members started to become immersed in my explanation at some point.

Thinking that their reaction was good to see, I immediately shifted the focus to the skeletal anatomy diagram drawn next to the organ diagram.

“Now then, after organs, the next thing we’ll look at is bones… Let’s learn about joints in particular.”

    -Tap!

“As you know, joints are both weak points of the body and parts that have sturdiness to protect them. So logically, if you use them for attack or defense, you’d choose to utilize this sturdiness, but… In reality, the martial arts we commonly deal with use these weak points as weapons.”

    “Weak points, as attacks?”

“Just paralyzing a joint makes it impossible to move that part, right?”

While muscles can still move for the time being if you endure the pain even if the muscle fibers are torn, when joints are damaged, that part is essentially paralyzed.

In other words, it’s a part that needs to be protected, but at the same time, it’s also the part that needs to be utilized the most in attacks that premise movement.

“For example, even swinging a fist like this.”

    -Bang!!

A jab thrown forward. As the mana-infused punch lightly exploded, the surrounding air greatly fluctuated.

“Although the power is lower because it’s a checking move, its speed can only be achieved by maximally utilizing the elasticity of the joints. And if you apply this a bit more, like this…”

    -Whoosh!

Immediately followed by a low kick swinging the lower leg.

“…It’s also possible to deliver a powerful surprise blow from a blind spot while minimizing body movement.”

Unlike big techniques, it requires little movement, but by using the elasticity of joints, even seemingly insignificant movements can transform into powerful attacks.

“And if you utilize this a bit more, you can use techniques like this.”

Following that explanation, I swung my leg powerfully upwards.

    From bottom to top.

At a glance, it might look like a high kick, but what I’m actually aiming for isn’t the head but the leg.

    -Whoosh!

The unconventional kick that comes down from top to bottom was a technique called the Brazilian kick in my original world.

It’s one of the things that always comes up when talking about flashy techniques in MMA.

In this era, even its oral tradition isn’t known, but anyone with knowledge can understand its principle.

“How about it? Don’t you feel how inflexible and rigid the standard you follow is just from seeing this?”

Thinking that these clever children would surely understand, I turned around briefly.

For some reason, I noticed that all the students’ gazes had turned away from me.

They were all either closing their eyes or averting their gaze, unable to look forward…

What’s this? Did I do the kick too savagely?

    “…Teacher.”

The only one clearly looking at me was, of course, the Disciplinary Committee head.

But even his face was uncharacteristically red. I thought he might have a fever, but the answer that came back was something I never expected.

“Please be careful about using such techniques while wearing a skirt.”

    “…Huh?”

Belatedly realizing the situation, my gaze immediately went to my lower body.

    Ah, skirt.

I’m wearing a skirt right now.

Then did I just openly show the inside of my skirt to the kids?

    “Oh my.”

Geez, I haven’t even shown this to Dad.

To think I’d end up providing such service unintentionally in front of male students too.

    “Oh my, my~”

But what I actually felt was more curiosity towards the Disciplinary Committee head who failed to maintain his composure and averted his gaze, rather than such shame.

He even pulled down his hat as if he didn’t want to see his own reddened face.

“Our Disciplinary Committee head. Don’t tell me you’re feeling shy?”

    “……”

“Oh dear~ It seems our Disciplinary Committee head has feelings for the teacher, what should I do? Unfortunately, the teacher already has someone in mind, so I don’t think I can accept the Disciplinary Committee head’s feelings.”

    “…Teacher Seine.”

    “Don’t make such a harsh expression, I’m just joking~”

Giggling, I casually returned to the teacher’s desk.

Well, it’s not like anything’s going to wear out from showing the inside of my skirt.

“Well… The conversation went off track a bit, but in summary, this is what I’m trying to say.”

Anyway, let’s end the incident as just an incident.

    The lesson continued smoothly afterwards.

“If you hit this part, a person dies. Conversely, even if you hit this part hard, a person doesn’t die. It’s also possible to expand the range of combat by reversely using fatal parts… In this way, the more you learn about what you’re dealing with and aiming for, the more you can consider.”

    Experience and records aren’t everything.

By learning knowledge that can’t be gained from just those, you can broaden the range of activities that match your intentions.

This was a fact that was even more important because everything humans do is based on this body.

“Just attacking parts that won’t kill even if hit is enough to achieve the purpose of non-lethality. Of course, if the modifier ‘humane’ is added, there will be more to consider, but at least it’s much better than inflexibly excluding what shouldn’t be done as you’ve done until now.”

    -Tap!

At the moment the chalk struck the blackboard.

With that emphasis statement on my back, I turned to the students and said.

“This is the first task you’ll learn in this training camp. The correlation between human anatomy and combat. Does anyone have any objections to this lesson?”

    “……”

    Silence from everyone.

But their eyes staring at the blackboard were very serious. As if they had seen the possibility of something they hadn’t thought of.

Yes, knowing about human anatomy is absolutely necessary for more efficient combat and for subduing without causing harm.

With this, even the current Disciplinary Committee should be able to humbly accept and follow.

“Now then, the second thing I want to explain next is…”

But the problem will be what I’m going to bring up next.

    -Creak.

“…You’ve come at the right time.”

I immediately turned to look at the classroom door that had opened.

What came in were men in red hats pulling carts.

They were instructors following the orders of Harrison, the owner of this training camp.

“We brought these on the Director’s orders.”

“Yes, please put them over there.”

After that, the instructors took out boxes from the carts and placed them in the classroom one by one.

Not just the weight, but more than that, their gaze towards me didn’t look very good.

It’s natural since a teacher from the main school suddenly came and is teaching students instead of the director they have a cooperative relationship with.

Of course, if they’re steeped in military style, they’re in a position where they have to do what they’re told. Coincidentally, my goodwill is for students who are not yet ready for independence, it couldn’t extend to adults who have the freedom of choice.

“Well then, let’s move on to the second lecture right now.”

After the instructors left, I took out what was in the boxes and placed them on the teacher’s desk.

The Disciplinary Committee members started murmuring as soon as they saw it.

Even Waden, who had been listening attentively until now, had his expression greatly stiffened at this moment.

    “Are those… weapons?”

    “Yes. For practice, though.”

They’re the same as regular weapons in terms of weight and volume, just without sharp edges.

Even a fool would understand what it means to use these in education. What I’m going to teach now is techniques for using weapons…

    “…Are you dissatisfied after all?”

That is, the theory of weapon techniques.
