Chapter Index

The weather was cooler than she expected, and Seojin hugged her arms as a breeze from the mountainside brushed past.

    “Aren’t you cold?”

Rio naturally tugged at the hem of his shirt, about to pull it off. It was just a thin outer shirt, but as he moved, Seojin instinctively glanced around and shrank back.

“I’m fine, so put it back on. You’re only wearing an undershirt beneath it.”

“I’m welcomed pretty much anywhere I decide to take my shirt off.”

Taking Seojin’s self-consciousness into account, Rio lightly grabbed her wrist instead. As they walked, his hand slid down until they were holding hands, and they continued on their way.

The main road leading toward the bustling area was already crowded with children, couples, and tourists.

The entrance to the amusement park.

Colorful balloons, the sound of music, and character mascots scattered everywhere. The sight made Seojin pause just before the gate.

The last time she’d come just to have fun was a memory from her early childhood, walking hand-in-hand with her parents.

And the time after that, not quite as long ago, was a memory from a school trip she’d paid for with her part-time job money. She remembered standing apart from her friends, debating whether she should spend anything, before rejoining them with a forced smile.

    There were no other times.

    “Wow…”

But the excitement that came with simply being at an amusement park was undeniable. Seojin could feel the corners of her mouth turning up unconsciously just from taking in the scenery.

    “Is this your first time?”

“…No, it’s not. But things were always tight.”

Though she tried not to show it, it was obvious that Seojin, who had only just left her teens, had been forced to grow up too fast. Rio swung her hand forward in a wide arc.

    “Hmm.”

The motion made Seojin turn her gaze to him. Beneath the sunlight, the line of his shoulders and jaw was visible through his T-shirt, and his hair fluttered in the breeze.

“Though I certainly never dreamed I’d come here with a man like you.”

“A man like me is, in many ways, beyond imagination.”

Rio raised an eyebrow at her words. It was the expression of a man who never lost his sense of self, even in a casual remark—his brow confident even under the bright sun.

    “In many ways, indeed.”

Handsome, rich, and well-endowed, but also promiscuous and does drugs.

She didn’t even have to think about the kind of woman he could bring here. Someone pretty, confident… someone who suited him, not someone messy and pathetic.

“So, you’re not regretting it, are you? Thinking a man like that should have come with a more impressive woman?”

Seojin deliberately made the comment sound playful, but she subtly watched Rio’s expression.

Instead of answering, he lifted her hand high and gestured toward the amusement park entrance with his chin.

“If you’re going to run, this is your last chance.”

    “……”

    “Otherwise, let’s go in together.”

Seojin’s eyes widened. She was silent for a moment before bursting into laughter.

“Let’s go. But… if you don’t have fun, I won’t let you get away with it.”

It was a small act of revenge against the man who was always chasing fun. The corners of her mouth curled up, ever so slightly, with excitement.

“That’s up to you. For once, try to make me not regret this.”

After buying tickets and putting on their wristbands, the first thing they approached was the massive roller coaster right by the main gate.

Its twisting, dropping track was clearly visible even from a distance, and the sound of steel clanking and screams soaring through the air created a sense of tension before they even got in line.

“Just so you know, I’m not scared of these things.”

Seojin simply tilted her head back to look up at the end of the rail, then shrugged.

    “Are you bluffing?”

    “Nope. Fact.”

Her eyes gleamed at the screams that echoed with every twist and drop.

After waiting, their turn finally came. As they buckled their seatbelts and the shoulder harness came down, Seojin pressed her back into the seat and turned her head.

“What about you? You can hold my hand if you get scared.”

“Haha. Don’t you worry about me.”

Seojin tapped Rio’s hand, which was resting casually beside him. Rio just smirked, his eyes on her breasts, which were pressed firmly by the safety bar.

Just before departure, the chain clanked as the train began its slow ascent up the hill. As it crawled up the steel track, the wind started to whip against their faces.

“Whew… Maybe because it’s been a while. I’m actually looking forward to this.”

Seojin said, looking up at the sky with a face full of excitement.

Beside her, Rio still looked completely relaxed. His hands were resting casually on his knees, and his eyes were half-closed, not fixed on anything in particular.

“Are you secretly trembling on the inside?”

“Me? I’m the type to think this kind of thing is good for the body.”

    “…Dopamine addict.”

As they teased each other, the train reached its peak and plummeted in an instant. In that brief moment when her body lifted from the seat, Seojin flinched slightly and broke into a brilliant smile.

“On the next drop, let’s let go and scream!”

Rio glanced at her out of the corner of his eye.

    “Why?”

“It’s just the atmosphere! We should do at least one thing like this together!”

At that, Rio shook his head as if finding her ridiculous, then extended the hand that had been resting calmly on the armrest toward Seojin.

    “If you feel like it.”

Deciding to enjoy the moment rather than dwell on his annoying attitude, Seojin grabbed his hand. The moment she raised their joined hands high above her head—another drop.

    “Waaaaah——!”

    “Ahhh—…”

While she reveled in the thrill, Rio merely opened his mouth slightly. He was acting as if he were letting out a mock scream, devoid of tone or emotion, and it was almost cute.

When the train stopped and the restraints were released, Seojin covered her mouth with both hands, trying to stifle her laughter.

“Next time, just ride it normally.”

    “Such a harsh reaction.”

Rio nonchalantly brushed his hair back and nudged her shoulder. Then, as they walked down the stairs toward the exit, he spoke.

    “What’s next?”

    “How about the Viking ship?”

When Seojin suggested it, Rio turned his head.

A giant wooden boat-shaped ride was swinging back and forth, carrying the screams of children and adults alike.

The line was shorter than for the other rides, and for them, caught between bickering and excitement, the wait wasn’t bad at all.

Once they were on, Seojin tensed her toes to keep her balance. With every soaring ascent and sudden drop, the feeling of her stomach floating made laughter and screams burst out of her at the same time.

    “Haha—!!”

    “You look so happy.”

Rio acted as if he were capturing the moment with his eyes instead of a camera. Wanting to mess with Rio, who was only looking at her, Seojin deliberately leaned her body to one side, pressing against him. Rio asked.

    “Flirting?”

    “I’m tormenting you.”

After conquering a spinning ride, a gyro drop, and other famous attractions, Seojin paused to catch her breath. Her heart was racing and she was breaking a sweat, but her face was flushed with excitement.

“I’m just going to use the restroom.”

    “Okay.”

He naturally held out his hand as if to take her bag, and Seojin hesitantly handed it over before carefully heading toward the women’s restroom.

For some reason, her steps faltered at first, but then she disappeared inside as if it were familiar. Thankfully, the stalls in the women’s restroom were fully enclosed.

Little things like that were gradually becoming less awkward than she’d expected.

While she was inside, Rio slung her crossbody bag over his shoulder and waited. He stood there nonchalantly, one hand tucked inside his shirt.

He wasn’t smiling brightly or forcing a grin, yet his face was one that naturally drew the eye. Without Seojin by his side, his exotic features, characteristic of his mixed heritage, stood out even more.

His neatly styled hair, sharp jawline, and well-defined nose, his face with its long lashes and half-closed eyes—it all filled the space around him with a quiet radiance.

A small commotion stirred among the women coming out of the restroom.

    “Whoa, what the… he’s gorgeous.”

    “An influencer? A model? Can I take a picture…?”

“There’s no way he’s here alone… He must have a girlfriend, right?”

Rio didn’t even blink at the stares of the few people who were furtively taking pictures, the faint sound of camera shutters clicking around him.

Instead, he glanced at two women who were whispering and laughing just within earshot and raised the corner of his mouth.

The smile, slowly revealing a dimple, was more captivating than any performer’s act—the unforgettable ease of a truly handsome man.

Just as the surrounding whispers grew louder, Seojin came out, shaking her wet hands. She sensed the atmosphere and froze. A quick glance was enough to see the stares coming from all directions, and she suddenly felt reluctant to step back into the orbit of his presence.

So she took a step, then another, trying to slip away in a different direction when—

    “Where are you going?”

The familiar voice cut off her escape. Seojin scratched the back of her neck and gave an awkward smile.

But Rio had already slung an arm naturally around her shoulders. In that instant, another camera shutter clicked.

    “Weren’t you enjoying yourself?”

“Think of it as community service. That’s enough dreams and hopes for one day.”

Seojin muttered. Rio laughed nonchalantly, then walked away with her without a single glance back.

Matching his indifferent yet firm pace, Seojin lowered her head and kept up. It was better to avoid the stares.

Well, it’s better to get away from all this quickly anyway.

Once they were a little farther away and had escaped the commotion, Seojin spoke.

“You can give me my bag now.”

Rio didn’t answer. He looked around before his gaze settled on something. At the end of his line of sight was a prize shooting gallery.

Miniature toys and giant stuffed animals were on display, along with targets and small rifles.

He just turned his head to look at her.

“I’ll give it to you if you win.”

    “…Huh?”

“Before we came, you said you wanted to do something like this.”

Seojin’s eyes naturally followed his. A smile crept onto her lips without her realizing it. If she could just set aside her strange embarrassment, she didn’t really care if he carried her bag, but…

    “…A civilian?”

It was one of the things she’d wanted to say, had she gone through the military normally. She tossed the word out while gesturing at the shooting gallery, and Rio twitched an eyebrow.

    “Acting all cute, are we?”

“Ahem… I may not look it, but I was in a training center until recently. And I was good.”

The words might have sounded ridiculous, but inside that place, being good at shooting was considered as impressive as being good at clenching her pussy.

“Then, my dear lady, on the off chance that I win, you’ll grant me a wish, right?”

    “You don’t sound very unconfident.”

Seojin narrowed her eyes and took a step toward the prize counter.

    “Fine. Let’s do it.”

With that, the two of them stood side-by-side in front of the shooting counter. The prizes were just stuffed animals, big and small, but the atmosphere was as tense as a battlefield.
