Chapter 58 December 13, 2024
by AfuhfuihgsThe Outer God Needs Warmth – Chapter 58
The first world gradually changed.
I can’t know all the facts accurately because all the harvesters are concentrated in the Kingdom of Anselus.
But I can see to some extent how the political situation is flowing.
An Anti Holy Spirit Religion movement began in the Kingdom of Anselus.
From the harvesters’ perspective, not all people of the Kingdom of Anselus clearly hated the Holy Spirit Religion. Rather, it was closer to venting. People exhausted by two years of great famine needed a place to vent their anger.
But they didn’t just rush into the Holy Spirit Religion from the beginning.
They just verbally criticized and such.
But the timing was too bad. Of course, people rose up because the timing was bad, but it was also a time when many people on the Holy Spirit Religion side were very sharp.
The famine was a difficult time for all life.
Like getting more irritated when hit while sick, the Holy Spirit Religion decided to suppress other religions on a large scale.
An order with such intent arrived from the Holy Spirit Religion headquarters to the Anselus king.
However, the problem was that it described the Kingdom of Anselus as if it were a hostile country.
The king summoned all the nobles and held a meeting. And there he unfolded the order that flew in from the Holy Spirit Religion.
The content of the order was to offer almost everything the king and nobles of the Kingdom of Anselus had as tribute, and to thoroughly suppress religions other than the Holy Spirit Religion within their country.
The harvesters, including the king, all felt bad.
That is, there was a very high possibility that other people would feel bad too.
And practically, the Kingdom of Anselus responded by ignoring the Holy Spirit Religion.
No matter what, many people refused to separate from the Holy Spirit Religion because they had believed for too long to erase it.
Moreover, though they said ignore, it was actually acceptance in the form of sending even part of the tribute and bowing their heads.
But the Holy Spirit Religion sent another order saying to bring everything as written.
And that several times.
The last one even included words about excommunicating the Kingdom of Anselus.
From the king’s perspective, there wasn’t money to give all that. To give tribute, they had to squeeze the nobles. But even I watching from afar know that would cause rebellion.
Moreover, overlapping with the famine, it was a situation where squeezing people itself was impossible.
While somehow conducting diplomacy and settling internal public sentiment, the king who was a harvester became haggard day by day. And though he should have a body stronger than others, he eventually couldn’t endure and fell ill.
But it seems the Holy Spirit Religion didn’t care. In the end, the king’s younger brother took over as proxy, and reminders flew precisely towards the king’s brother as if the kingdom owed a debt.
And the content wasn’t gold and silver treasures, but food.
In a situation of dilemma, a year passed while the Kingdom of Anselus couldn’t do this or that.
The famine didn’t end.
The third year of famine.
The forests were devastated and there was no grass in fields and paddies. Reports of people eating people came up from all over, and starvation deaths began to occur in the capital.
Then the king’s brother acting as proxy gathered people in the capital square, announced the Holy Spirit Religion’s demands, and declared that the kingdom could no longer endure.
It was practically a declaration of catastrophe.
But the people already had an alternative.
Yes.
In the midst of extreme hunger and resignation that only death remained, a few people reached me.
And I said there would be people with special abilities, right?
A person who could turn stones into bread appeared.
Originally, he was a harvester only known by word of mouth to people in the capital. A person who desperately hid this ability for fear that superiors would take it away if they found out.
He went to the king’s proxy and said to serve a new god. But the king’s proxy asked back, saying he saw the god die that day.
The harvester persuaded that he received the blessing after the Outer God disappeared, saying the Outer God hadn’t completely disappeared.
The king’s brother believed that and decided to believe in another god.
The state religion changed overnight.
It was an era when even nobles were already starving to death. The miracle of the Outer God Religion spread like wildfire.
But it was different from pseudo-religions. Because they were people who knew the Holy Spirit Religion, they brought over the doctrines from then and spread them by making somewhat plausible doctrines.
And the nobles. Especially centered around harvesters, they refined that flow and spread it more surely.
Those who just changed the sign from the Holy Spirit Religion to the Outer God Religion added a few new myths.
They brought words that were there when I disappeared from the first world.
Yes.
You don’t receive salvation by believing.
People have the freedom to not believe along with the freedom to believe in god. The Outer God gave blessings without wanting anything.
They combined these well to make it like a religion that acts to save others. Forgiveness doesn’t need compensation. When giving a gift to someone, you don’t give it expecting something.
The really funny fact is, do you know who made this doctrine? The people who neatly organized it into sentences were 17 people including Martin.
Those who returned to the Holy Spirit Religion but were eventually forced to be driven to the borderlands due to their alien purple hair.
They needed a new faith.
And they reached out to the Outer God faith that swelled in conjunction with the famine.
This is why intellectuals are scary, I guess.
Inquisitors at the forefront of fighting other religions exert powerful force when attacking their own religion.
A god who forgives.
A god for people.
A god guaranteeing freedom.
A god for the lowest.
A god giving blessings for free.
The Outer God Religion really spread in all directions in an instant.
And it became known that purple hair was a characteristic of people blessed by the Outer God, and the fact that some among those blessed had their skin turn blue was also revealed.
Alien differences sometimes give birth to holiness.
The child named Dakota who was dying by Hyunkeshuni’s hand survived.
I know because I’ve been watching with particular interest as a talent to stab Hyunkeshuni. At first, people looked at her uneasily thinking it was a disease because of her bright blue skin, but she barely survived thanks to her hair color.
But even though she starved for dozens of days, or was beaten to the point of breaking bones, Dakota ultimately survived to the end with marvelous vitality.
And as times changed, she was revered like a saintess of the Outer God Religion.
Of course, she doesn’t believe in the Outer God Religion. I heard the soliloquies she sometimes makes when alone.
She had only been thinking about revenge on the witch until now.
I knew because I was listening even when she was alone.
She judged that sitting in this position would help in taking revenge on Hyunkeshuni. So she decided to sit in that position and play the saintess that people want.
And when the total 3 years of famine ended and things opened up a little, she met Martin. Not just Martin, but she met everyone who was present when the Outer God was killed.
But it wasn’t because Martin or the former paladins and priests of the Holy Spirit Religion had some thoughts that they gathered.
They were half-dragged.
Because the Outer God appeared.
What?
I haven’t gone to the first world yet?
I’m also watching full of questions, and I see a familiar face.
A short girl with long blonde hair but quite large breasts.
She introduced herself as Rebecca Rolfe.
No, why are you coming out there?
It’s already been 84 years since I left that body so you should be close to 100 years old, why do you still look young?
What? Can you live that long if you receive a blessing?
No, Rebecca didn’t even receive a blessing in the first place, right?
I was also surprised and focused on the harvesters.
Looking at the situation, Martin and the former paladins and priests of the Holy Spirit Religion came almost dragged because they were figures who had seen the Outer God up close.
They said the Outer God really returned.
But Rebecca denied that.
She said she was just a vessel for the Outer God.
I don’t know what Rebecca Rolfe is thinking.
If she knows all my thoughts, she knows I’m an evil monster.
If she says that here, the facts I slightly distorted could be corrected.
For example, what happens to people when their warmth is taken.
Then, the illusion about the Outer God would be shattered.
But I don’t have the power to control this situation.
So I could only watch holding my breath.
And Rebecca told the truth she knew.
That the Outer God wants warmth.
That it’s watching people through the eyes of blessed people.
And that terrible methods were used to call the Outer God.
She talked about what happened until she died with her heart ripped out in the Future Hope Church.
And she said the Outer God revived her as it left.
Martin asked, stammering:
“Is that, resurrection?”
“That’s right. Put your ear to my chest and listen. My heart won’t be beating. After dying once, I couldn’t die anymore.”
Martin was very uncomfortable. His gaze went to Rebecca’s chest and fell away several times. Then Dakota approached her.
“I’ll do it.”
Rebecca, who had been watching Dakota closely, soon smiled broadly and spread her arms.
“Oh my, a young child? Good. Come here.”
And when Dakota approached, she embraced her. Dakota’s ear touched her chest. Instead of the sound of a heart beating, there’s a sound of something spinning round and round.
The heart I replaced before is still there.
Dakota tries to get up by exerting force, but unlike exerting force, her body doesn’t move back.
“What?”
As Dakota tries to question, a whispering sound with a faint breath came to Dakota’s ear.
“You who cannot speak your name. Are you listening?”
Rebecca embraced Dakota and whispered in a small voice by her ear. You who cannot speak your name.
That’s probably referring to me.
“We’ll meet again now.”
And she immediately let go of Dakota. Dakota touches her ear with a sour expression. Rebecca looks at Dakota like that and smiles, then says this to the people there:
“Well then, children. Let’s move for the Outer God. This body came here to do that.”
Everyone looked at Rebecca with sour expressions. But soon their expressions changed as Rebecca began explaining.
It’s a method I know. She edited the principle by which one religion spread in some world to fit this world.
Along with that, one prayer was born.
She took the prayer I referenced to torment Hyunkeshuni, put me in that place, and modified it to fit the Outer God Religion.
At least she knows what I’m doing, and is moving to carry that out. She’s acting while knowing that taking warmth is bad for people.
I don’t know the reason.
Dakota didn’t seem to know, but I found intense hatred on Rebecca’s face. Maybe she came to hate the world.
Well, that’s enough.
I decided to keep watching, looking forward to how the first world will flow from now on.
