Chapter 18 December 13, 2024
by AfuhfuihgsThe Outer God Needs Warmth – Chapter 18
Evening.
Joanna went to Hieronymus and suggested giving me a room with a window. So Hieronymus and Joanna searched for a suitable room until late at night.
And I discovered one interesting point.
Joanna’s night vision is extremely good.
I realized this when examining the room Hieronymus took us to. Hieronymus groped around the dark place as if he couldn’t see anything because it was too dark.
In a room that was very bright with moonlight.
No, strictly speaking, it wasn’t a room bright with moonlight. Because the moon visible from the window was a half-moon.
It’s not that bright a night. Joanna, as if she already knew, immediately found and lit a small lamp as soon as she saw it.
I thought I knew everything, but a part I didn’t know came out.
Certainly, compared to Joanna’s memories, the world has become much brighter. But I didn’t know there would be this much difference.
In other words, what I see and what the person actually feels could be different.
I need to be careful about this part.
I thought I knew everything, but when I look later, they might be thinking differently.
Since I’m seeing through others’ eyes, I shouldn’t mistake that I know everything about that person. The time I forgot this would be the point when I completely lost interest in others.
So after looking around five rooms, we chose one. And Joanna cleaned it up alone.
Hieronymus said he would assign people to help, but Joanna refused.
So Joanna cleaned that place alone all night, and brought necessary items herself. There’s a supply warehouse. She carried huge wardrobes and beds from there alone.
Hasn’t she become stronger than when I first saw her?
After cleaning the entire room alone like that, dawn broke in the distance. Sunlight shone on the room Joanna had cleaned.
And through a full-length mirror hanging on one side of the room, Joanna’s figure is visible.
Beyond the light, in Joanna’s memory, there’s a girl from a very long time ago. Her hair has turned purple, skin blue, light brown eyes yellow, and the white part next to it black, moving a bit away from human form.
Is she thinking about that time?
Joanna looked at the mirror for a while without any special reaction, then started moving again.
And while preparing my breakfast, she also prepares her own meal in advance. She eats quite a lot. It seems like she’s eating about 4 times as much as me.
It’s just that I don’t eat much, but when my stomach is full, it’s irritating. So I don’t force myself to eat. Wondering if I’m eating too little, I looked around Rebecca Rolfe’s body that I’m currently sleeping in.
It’s not thin.
It doesn’t get skinny just from eating less for 6 days. No, rather, it’s gained weight. Because it was wrapped in chains without eating anything for a while until it became a sacrifice.
Of course, since it was only about two days, it was just slightly thin, but it was thin. And it died with its heart torn out by a strange tool.
And the next time it opened its eyes, I was there.
It regenerated. But when I first entered, the sounds coming from the human body were so irritating that I ground up the heart, which made the loudest sound.
Even now, Rebecca Rolfe’s heart doesn’t beat. Instead of a heart, a sphere connected to blood vessels rotates and pushes out blood at a constant level.
It’s amazing that no problems occur. Or there’s a possibility that it’s already tattered but moving forcibly because I’m there.
I’ll think about that later.
Even if it breaks down, there’s no means to repair it anyway.
So, pass.
I wonder how much I change a person’s body when I enter it?
The things I need to know have increased.
Shall we organize it once?
The main goal is harvester production.
Currently 4 units.
Future production plan exists.
The sub-goal is to check the improvement abilities of harvesters.
Eyesight, strength, endurance, regeneration, special flames.
This needs to be checked gradually while increasing harvesters. There’s a possibility that they might gain different abilities like in ability user stories.
This is related to my warmth.
Next is the goal related to the Future Hope Church.
Understanding the relationship between Hieronymus and Andrew.
Is this a fight between the current leader and the second-in-command trying to surpass him? It’s hard to know since I don’t know what past these two have that brought them here.
I’m fine with rolling either way. It would be good if Hieronymus leads the Future Hope Church alone and projects harvesters towards other countries.
But it’s also okay if they split with Andrew and the Future Hope Church fights among themselves. Considering how powerful my harvesters are, whoever gets me will tell me to stamp out harvesters.
Hehe.
No matter how much I push myself in when creating harvesters, I don’t feel like anything is decreasing. In other words, it means I don’t feel any sense of population limit yet. So I should make as many as I can.
Of course, a third possibility will probably appear too.
I’m looking forward to it.
And the wake-up time of the 6th day approached.
I greet Joanna as she enters.
“Good morning, Joanna.”
“Yes, good morning, Miss Rebecca.”
I get up, wash, eat, and change clothes. Of course, I could summon dark purple mist and make clothes like I did before, but I put that off.
Because I feel like Hieronymus would react sensitively if I use it too often.
After saying that, Joanna talks about moving rooms. When she asks if it’s okay to move now, I tell her to do so.
Then Joanna greets me and leaves the room.
I don’t know where Hieronymus is, but can she find him well?
Joanna’s steps show no hesitation.
How does she know? If I search Joanna’s memories in detail, can I find out where Hieronymus is?
While I’m scanning through Joanna’s memories that I obtained at that time again, the door opened.
For a moment, I thought we had missed each other.
But the one who came in is a small girl.
No, compared to Hieronymus and even Joanna, who is quite tall for a woman, it’s easy to mistake her, but she’s not that small.
Slightly shorter than me?
I know her name.
Hyunkeshuni.
A girl with silver hair, small stature, a solid body, and an expression that seems to be suppressing unhappiness.
“Hello, Hyunkeshuni.”
“Ah, yes. Hello, Rebecca Rolfe.”
She spoke while tightly gripping her staff. I can see her trembling faintly? She’s very afraid of me.
Was there anything I did to make her afraid of me? But there wasn’t. Then could it be that she was mistreated by Hieronymus?
Since I don’t know much about that, there’s a possibility.
But to say she’s a target of abuse, she was too confident when we first met.
I stood up from my seat.
Then Hyunkeshuni’s grip tightens. And an unpleasant energy flows out from inside. It’s different from me. If I pour from above, it seems like she’s taking it out from her own pocket inside.
There are many creative works with vessels holding power like mana hearts or dantian. Did she take it out from such a place? Or it might be a place called the soul.
But it doesn’t seem to be coming from the light? I’m currently guessing that soul and light might be the same thing.
Anyway, I know she’s quite tense. So instead of approaching, I went far away.
“What, what are you doing now?”
Her voice trembled when she said “now”. I stuck to the wall as much as possible and looked back at her.
“Hyunkeshuni is afraid of me.”
Flinch.
Hyunkeshuni shuddered all over as if she got goosebumps.
Ah, a mistake. Even so, should I have given the information that I can read emotions a bit later? A monster that can understand people is twice as scary as one that can’t.
Because it means it can deal with people.
I want to soothe her well, but since I’m already playing the pet beast meta, it’s difficult to say words that are too intelligent.
So I speak in a simplified manner.
“So I avoided you.”
Hyunkeshuni laughs while giggling.
“No, there’s no need for that. From now on, I’ll be taking care of you too. I have to make an effort too. Yes.”
She’s deceiving herself with desperate laughter while terrified. What is whipping her like that?
There’s some intention.
Then let’s use it.
Let’s approach like a fool.
“Laughing means it’s okay, right?”
Of course, I know Hyunkeshuni is afraid. But I judge only by the surface. Pretending to be unfamiliar with others’ emotions. I approach.
The more I approach, the cuter Hyunkeshuni looks as she steels herself.
There’s a quite large light in her chest, though it’s a bit faded. But the warmth is still close to the bottom.
If possible, I feel like I could extract more warmth. Now that the opportunity has come, I might as well experiment with that at the same time.
I stood right in front of Hyunkeshuni. Right in front, close enough to feel her breath.
There’s a personal space around the face called the private area. But I deliberately tore into it and entered.
Yes. Then Hyunkeshuni gets flustered. She’s confused and tense, her trembling increases.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
Now, what should my answer be here? I’m a monster ignorant about humans. So I can do things that are rude.
I reached out one hand and placed it on Hyunkeshuni’s cheek. It’s funny how dark energy is waiting under her snow-white skin. Is she that scared?
“Isn’t this what you do to children?”
“Oh my, where did you learn that from?”
“Rebecca Rolfe did this.”
Yes. Since I’ve already conveyed the information that I know memories once, shall we go with only knowing about Rebecca Rolfe?
Gradually, as if adapting to humans.
“Ah, right. That’s right. That’s her body. If it’s memories, they remain in the brain. But I’m not a child.”
“You’re small and your head is big in proportion to your body.”
“I’m just in this shape due to circumstances. To put it in a way you can easily understand, think of it as my body being fixed in a young state.”
I see. So you mean an adult in the form of a child. Yes. I had been guessing that might be the case since she said she was a witch.
“Then is this action not necessary?”
Hmm. Her cheek is softer than I thought. Is she really fixed in a young state? Judging by the slight vibrations coming through her cheek, it seems I shouldn’t torment her too much, but let’s enjoy a bit more here.
“Remove your hand. It’s not necessary for me.”
She could have just said not to do it, but she’s only putting a restriction on herself? What’s her intention? While solving the puzzle, I lowered my hand.
Then Hyunkeshuni stepped back three steps. And after briefly putting her hand on her own cheek, she quickly lowered it.
And she greeted with an exaggerated motion.
“I’m Hyunkeshuni who will take care of you along with the woman next to you from now on. I look forward to working with you, Rebecca.”
“Yes, Hyunkeshuni.”
I nodded. Puzzle pieces have poured out in abundance. Now I need to take time to slowly figure out what she’s thinking.
It’s good that there’s more to enjoy.
I smiled at the small silver-haired girl while observing Joanna returning with Hieronymus.
