Chapter Index

A man was standing outside the Somerset family’s front gate, breathing deeply and mumbling to himself.

“This is your last chance… .”

He barely managed to calm himself down by clenching his fists, his hands trembling with nervousness, and headed towards the guard guarding the main gate.

“Stop! This is the Somerset mansion. No one without an appointment is allowed to enter.”

“Rambus! Ashley Rambus made an appointment through the top of Uren.”

    “Please wait a moment.”

The guard who stopped the man who identified himself as Lambus took out his notebook and checked the list of guests who would be visiting that day.

    ‘Ashley Lambers.’

The guard, who confirmed that the name the man had mentioned was written down, continued to speak.

    “Please show your identification.”

    “Here it is!”

The guards checked the names on the identification tags, and one of them went into the mansion to deliver the news.

    “Hoo… .”

After finally completing the rigorous identity verification process, Lambus let out a sigh of relief.

This appointment was a precious opportunity that was made possible thanks to my uncle, the branch manager of the Eastern branch at the top of Yuren.

Thanks to his uncle, who had worked at the top of Yuren all his life and was also friendly with the top owner, Esteban, Lambus was able to make an appointment with Rupert, who was difficult to meet even for the nobles of the empire.

“Rupert told me to bring you. Follow me.”

    “Yes!”

While we waited for a moment, the guard returned and led Lambus inside Somerset Manor.

This was Lambus’ first time visiting such a nobleman’s mansion, so he found himself lost in his thoughts and looking around.

‘Is that the famous Somerset Workshop?’

A large three-story building came into view in one corner of the mansion grounds.

    “Are you Mr. Lambus?”

While I was looking around frantically, Lambus arrived at the main gate.

The person who greeted him at the door of the mansion was a sharp-looking young man with blond hair.

    ‘Is that Rupert?!’

Rumors about Rupert’s appearance were already widely known, as he was a famous person in the empire.

A cold handsome man with blond hair and blue eyes.

Lambus could immediately tell that the person in front of him was Rupert.

“Hello Rupert! My name is Ashley Lambers from the East. Today I am… .”

“Please come inside first. I can’t give you much time because I have a schedule.”

    “Ah! Yes, thank you!”

Rupert cut off Lambus’s frantic greeting and let him into the mansion, then guided him into the reception room.

‘Judging by his attire, he is not a nobleman. Could he have come just to ask for another book?’

Rupert had no choice but to make the appointment because Esteban asked him to, saying that there was someone who desperately wanted to meet him, but he was also a little worried.

It was because of all the experiences that Rupert had had because of those who had come to see him.

‘My child really likes the author’s fairy tales, and his wish is to have a limited edition fairy tale book…’

As the story of the great Duelist Joy Card being created spread, people flocked to ask for limited edition cards to be made for them too.

After checking, I found that none of them had a really sick child.

    Not only that,

‘Sir Rupert, this is top secret. We have discovered evidence of a gold mine in the mountains north of Somerset Estates. If you could invest a little bit… .’

‘Wait a minute… aren’t you the kid who tried to rip off my father from the silver mine last time?!’

Because of the rumors that the Somerset family had been making money recently, all kinds of swindlers flocked to the area.

As a result, Rupert naturally became suspicious of people whose status was not guaranteed.

‘I’d rather have people like that…’

But of all of them, the ones Rupert feared the most were none other than his most ardent fans.

    ‘Are you a writer?’

It was the nobleman who sneaked up on me when I was out of the mansion and complained about my work.

Some even climbed over Somerset’s wall to get a first look at the next episode.

And the pinnacle of these people is,

‘If we kidnapped the writer, locked him in a room, and made him draw all day, wouldn’t the work come out faster?’

‘What a genius idea. Let’s do it right now!’

Those who were dissatisfied with Rupert’s superhuman speed of serialization even planned to kidnap him and force him to only draw his works.

Fortunately, it was discovered in advance and was prevented from being attempted, but Rupert remembered the chills that ran down his spine when he heard the news.

Having experienced such things, Rupert looked at Lambus, who had now followed him into the reception room, and wondered if he had brought him too hastily, but he thought that since it had come to this, he should at least hear his story.

“Why did you come looking for me like that?”

Rupert gave Lambus, who was nervous, a moment to calm his mind by handing him tea.

When asked why he had come to see her, Lambus hesitated for a moment and then put his hand into his bosom.

Rupert flinched slightly at the sight of the action, but fortunately it was a piece of paper and not a weapon.

    “Map?”

“Yes, that’s right. This is one of the most detailed depictions of the continent’s areas.”

“But why are you showing this to me?”

“Rupert, do you know what lies east of the continent?”

“I know there is a sea and if you cross that sea, there is the Eastern Continent.”

    chuck.

“Yes. In your eastern continent, our continent of Sylvania is called the western continent.”

The part of the map that Lambus pointed to while answering Rupert’s question had the Eastern Continent roughly drawn on it.

But the man’s hand did not stop there and moved a little further east.

“Then, what if we sailed east once more from the Eastern Continent?”

    “Yes?”

“Would you please take a look at this?”

This time it was Lambus who took out several notebooks from the bag he was carrying and spread them out for Rupert.

    “Is this a constellation?”

“You see! Yes, they are drawings of the constellations in the night sky moving quarterly.”

Rupert was amazed at the constellations drawn in the notebook Lamberth showed him.

Although they may not be elaborate, they were records that clearly depicted movement over time.

Considering that, unlike on Earth, there are currently no people in the Empire who study constellations, this was certainly a rare record.

‘In the first place, constellations developed for farming.’

Astronomy, the study of constellations, was closely related to farming.

Astronomy began as a way to help with farming by understanding seasonal changes through celestial cycles.

In this world, magic and blessings are now applied to farming, so there is no longer any need to study astronomy.

In a way, it was similar to how paintings were not developed due to the existence of video stones that played the role of photographs.

“Some people say the world is flat, but I don’t think so. The world is definitely a round sphere!”

When Rupert shows curiosity about the notebook containing the constellations, Lamberth becomes excited and continues talking.

“So I thought about it! If there is something to the east beyond the Eastern Continent, wouldn’t it be faster to go there from the west? ”

“That’s an interesting story, but why are you telling me that?”

    “That’s….”

There was certainly some truth to what Lambus said, but Rupert didn’t think he had come to him just to say that.

Rupert wanted to hear the real reason, as it was a meaningless story to him, who was neither a scholar nor a writer.

“I want to sail the western seas that no one has yet been to to confirm that my thoughts are correct.”

After a brief pause, Lambus continued speaking, his voice much quieter than before.

“I went to other top companies and met people willing to invest, but they all said they couldn’t afford to spend money on such nonsense.”

Even though the was causing a craze for sailing, no one would invest in a voyage to the western seas that was not certain for Lambus, who had no achievements yet.

“So you came to see me?”

“Yes. When I heard that the Somerset family was building a ship, I was desperate… .”

“That ship is being built for another purpose.”

    “Ah… .”

At Rupert’s words, Lambus’ expression quickly turned gloomy.

The disappointment was bound to be great, as I thought this was my last chance.

“I know it’s hard to say, but if you say you’re going to find the curse or treasure of the sea god, wouldn’t there be someone who would invest in you?”

“That’s true. But I didn’t want to deceive the other person.”

His acquaintances also recommended that he should go find the treasure or curse of the sea god mentioned in .

His pride would not allow it.

“When I said I wanted to sail around the western part of the world, people laughed at me and said I was stupid.”

Lambus, the man who came to Somerset as his last hope, recalled the past days.

My father used to say that a fisherman only needs to catch fish.

Merchants who said that there was nothing beyond the Eastern Continent.

Friends who laughed at the idea that the end of the world was just a cliff.

“But ever since I was little, my dream was to see the sea and sail there.”

-You can’t lie in a dream, can you?

Lambus smiled softly and said his last words.

    “Mr. Lambus.”

    “Yes.”

Rupert looked Lambus in the eye.

On Earth, Rupert had heard the same thing.

‘It’s hard to make a living by drawing cartoons these days.’

‘Webtoon? Only a very small number of webtoon artists are successful.’

‘You should just work hard and think about what you’re doing instead of just getting carried away.’

Every time Rupert saw someone like him, he promised to help them, not give them advice or give up.

“Have you ever been on a long-distance voyage?”

“Yes? Oh, of course. I’ve participated in the Eastern Continent Upward Trip a couple of times.”

“You need to make a solid plan.”

Rupert said, rising from his seat.

    “Yes?”

When Lambus was bewildered by Rupert’s words, he asked again and answered.

    “Let’s go find it, romance.”

    Rupert decided to support Lambus.
